From OPB:

"Time springs forward at Portland’s historic Union Station"

https://www.opb.org/article/2024/03/11/time-marches-forward-at-portland-historic-union-station-on-daylight-saving/

"The Union Station clock, which is powered by gravity, must have its time changed by hand twice a year for daylight saving time."

The weird thing about is that seemingly everyone agrees changing clocks is somewhere between silly and a grave injustice, but the split between "permanent summer hours" and "permanent winter hours" does not fall along typical fault lines.

Like, if this is what triggers the Civil War, I expect to be sharing a foxhole with Ted Cruz...

Dear world. No I do not want to live on daylight savings time. Standard works just fine.

It took a while, but I finally finished changing all my clocks. Doing my watch took the longest. It's hard for me to write that small.

It's me today. I'm your Dad.

Happy Time Change, everyone. I have no idea why my body decided it was time to wake up, but here we are.

Happy Sunday.

WHERE is that post talking about how we tried staying on in, like, 1973 but couldn't even make it through one winter. Kids were getting run over walking to school in the dark, it was pitch black for hours.

While I'm a stickler about the proper use of Daying Saving (no 's'), I have to hand it to Savant that this GE Sync promo is pretty clever. Even if it does feel about a week too late.

We have tried to explain the clock thing. She is having NONE of it . . .

Dinner.
Now.

Time change days (today here in the US) are great days to remember to check the meta data on your digital cameras. You might be surprised to find it isn't just an hour that it's off, but days, months, years - and someday having that info correct could mean so much. @photography

Getting ready for some tonight.

Remember, if you want to f*** up something today, use the one hour window tonight to get a do-over!

Now sitting back to wait for "that's NOT how time travel works."

Happy Sunday, fellow humans and fellow aliens.

Sleep experts want to get rid of daylight saving time

"Reality check: Daylight savings doesn't "save" any daylight in the spring and summer, but instead pushes sunrises and sunsets to an hour later, and further away from our natural circadian rhythms, says Johnson, a co-chair of the nonprofit Coalition for Permanent Standard Time, which is supported by a number of sleep medicine and research organizations."

Daylight-saving time will end at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5, when clocks “fall back” an hour to standard time.

Standard time forever! Tomorrow we get our hour back!

United in standard time and well rested.

Good morning tooters. Daylight saving never seems to affect me much, I’m already waking an hour earlier most days now, although I always feel that it goes for about a month too long for my sleeping patterns.
How does everyone else find the change over?
Anyway its 7am & I’ve already been up for 2hrs, stripped & remade my bed, washed & hung out the sheets. Had my breakfast, just finished that second coffee & now I’m off to get ready for an early walk in the cool morning sunshine.

Tips for a smooth transition to daylight saving
