The older I get the more I realize that bands I reflexively hated when I was a kid were actually really good.
Case in point: Toto. Back in the day, I loathed "Africa" and "Roseanne" and even thought the soundtrack to Lynch's Dune was pants.
But years before that they come up with an absolutely perfect song like Georgy Porgy and I've got nothing but respect and admiration. (And, I mean, CHERYL LYNN on backing vocals for this.)
@bynkii I agree, the direct comparisons are absurd. She was closer to a jazz drummer in style.
FWIW, my rock critic dad said “Keith Moon is the only rick drummer I saw who could hold his own in a really good jazz band.” Which, if you know him, is a HUGE fucking compliment.
