In 1942 he was deported to Auschwitz from Będzin Ghetto. He was murdered in a gas chamber.

15 May 1942 | The renovation work in the crematorium at Auschwitz I has been completed.

The underground flue duct between the furnaces and the chimney has been repaired; walls and vaulting have been constructed above the room housing the engine next to the chimney; a fan connected to it has been installed to assist the draft of the furnaces.

Additionally, repairs have been carried out on one of the corpse-loading trolleys.

14 May 1940 | A French Jewish boy, Henri Latowicz, was born in Paris.

He arrived at Auschwitz on 11 February 1943 in a transport of 1,000 Jews deported from Drancy. He was among 832 of them murdered in gas chambers after the selection.

14 May 1944 | The main phase of the deportation of Hungarian Jews began. Between May 14 & July 9 in 142 trains some 420,000 people were deported to the German camp . Some 330,000 of them were murdered immediately in gas chambers.

12 May 1944 | A group of 39 Roma and Sinti children (20 boys and 19 girls) deported from the St. Josefspflege orphanage in Mulfingen, near Stuttgart were registered at Birkenau. Dr. Robert Ritter and Eva Justin of the Institute for the Study of Racial Hygiene carried out various tests on them before deportation.

The main purpose of this research was to confirm that the supposed "Gypsy" traits were inborn. When the children became useless, they could be deported.
