@robb @heliomass Obsidian sync is fast and reliable. iCloud is not. I switched from Notes to Obsidian because even Apple’s own apps don’t sync reliably.

Canva acquires Serif’s Affinity Suite, and I can’t help feeling doom about this.

I’ve worked with Canva in the past and they were good people, but this feels like a move towards subscriptions. I guess that’s kind of inevitable these days anyway, but being bought out often signals the end. I love the Affinity suite and I hope I’m wrong.

@andyn I didn't look at the actual map, it's just that tiny thumbnail in the image you shared. I can see red dots on Portsmouth and Salisbury - and I'm in the middle of that, just north of Southampton.

@andyn I avoid DF these days but as you shared the link I read that article. Although he does his usual job of trying to explain why Apple’s behaviour isn’t as bad as it appears, even he says:

“The bottom line remains as I concluded Friday: Apple played this whole thing terribly.”

Which is spot on.

@andyn I definitely used to be a fanboy, but I think they’ve completely lost the plot. I generally avoid reading anything by DHH but someone linked to him yesterday and I saw him describe Tim Cook’s Apple as being like Steve Balmer’s Microsoft - which I thought was a pretty good take.

@andyn I know what you mean. I’m all in with Apple stuff at home, but I’ve never loved Apple the company. I also remind myself not to have an emotional attachment to hardware and software - they’re just tools.

For once I can see a blogging platform trend in my timeline (elevnty) that I am thankfully not interested in looking into it one iota. People are doing some great things with it, but it looks painfully fiddly to me. Horses for courses though!

@andyn I’m with you 100%. I wasted loads of time last year fiddling with ‘interesting’ tools - and then yesterday decided to go with what I know and spent a couple of hours setting up WordPress the way I wanted it.

I love seeing what other people can do, but (for now at least) I’m sticking with what I know.
