@gerrymcgovern if we lay all wildlife losses at the feet of developing renewables since 1970, sure. Most of the gains in renewables have been in solar and wind since hydroelectric was mostly built out already during the last century. A conversation about tradeoffs is important but hyperbole will probably just lead to inaction which is terrifying in the face of a problem like climate change.

@gerrymcgovern do you foresee consumers voluntarily reducing consumption, or governments curtailing how much they can buy?

Reducing the carbon intensity of activities that are ongoing is better than hoping people radically change their lifestyles even if that would be a perfect solution. Even then, reducing energy consumption just for homes and transportation will take generations due to the built infrastructure we already have, unless we expect people to go cold in the winter

the anti-fluoride people are back... I mean, if you like anti-vax stuff why not? It's the same swindle.

"precious bodily fluids" and all that.

I hate the taste of mint so I'm always looking for toothpaste that tastes better... I was horrified to discover that if you go of the beaten path with toothpaste there are 100s of brands with "no fluoride" which only a tiny number of people really need... Be careful if you use a "crunchy" brand ... fluoride is amazing.

@futurebird but Alex Jones told me fluoride would overwhelm my brain and turn me into a slave of the new world order so they could make me accept Canadian troops living in my basement for the UN. Hard to know the truth when there are two sides to this argument.
