Resident PHP & Jacascript iconoclast. I still think PSR is the worst, even now that I'm on Mastodon. You might remember me from Dallas PHP and Lone Star PHP.

Watched the premier episode of and not only ran ads before the show but interrupted the show 3-4 times to play unskippable ads. 😡

Ads before were bad enough, but this is absolutely jarring & bullshit for a service I pay for.

Can't even seem to find any info about an ad-free tier for Canadian subscribers.

Really makes the "oh, it's streaming on Prime" discovery into a disappointment than good news.

bobmagicii,
@bobmagicii@phpc.social avatar

@ramsey @syntaxseed this wouldn't be so bad if tv shows were still made to have adbreaks. but often times they will just cut it in the middle of a conversation because the timer said so.

I have just been informed that Plex has a bug where if you upload to your Plex server an album either credited to "Various Artists" or containing a mix of artists on each track, it will list that album in the UI as being by "KONAMI". This is apparently a known issue.

it is sad because acmephp used to be so good but i am extremely displeased with how they've "run" it since zerossl got it. i mean their website still doesn't even tell you it has a 2.0 and they stopped publishing phars forever ago.

so i shall retool for acme.sh. and honestly i think i can strip all "ssl support" out of my framework now because its fully autonomous.

https://github.com/acmesh-official this is my favourite ssl client now. it even supports the api of most dns which gets around all the issues about intranets and wildcards.

pissed off letsencrypt with fail attempts before finding out i had to enable api access per-domain in porkbun, but hey.

when i first jumped ship to mariadb it was because i didn't have time to learn the new user system in mysql 8. but then i found out maria didn't yet have json query support. seems like it works now though.

maria claims json is just an alias for longtext so i personally doubt if this will be performant at a scale i would like. questions remain, such as, should i fulltext index it?

think mysql has done more optimization for this type of stupid, maybe its time to go back.

I have an query that is ordering by post_date. But the date for this particular set of posts is identical.

So it's giving me them in different orders if I run the same query a few times. Which is messing up pagination.

What the heck?

bobmagicii,
@bobmagicii@phpc.social avatar

@Aaron @syntaxseed yeah was gonna suggest ORDER BY post_date, id just to solidify that.

I had to read an XML book because of that hype, but no one was able to tell me for what I was learning XML. I asked so many questions about what use cases they thought about but got no answer. A few years later I used XML standards for API's and data sharing.

the surprising part of microsoft recall is not that corporate has done this. its that 8gb of onboard npu ram... (nram?) is enough to do all that crap as frequently as it is. i can barely get any ai work done on my 6gb of vram. yet alone every 4 seconds.

apple added a watch face with a few pride themes that can gasp actually be used to tell the time too. what a novel idea. the old stripes without hour ticks was so bloody useless.

also since it does not "look like a flag" your personal safety in the confederate states goes up a few points.

had to put off my dallasphp plans as i tried to stay alive for a month and a half for a doctors appointment, for my insurance to start this month,

doctor office calls me today (the day before) ""you must change your primary provider and we cant see you until thats done"" so now i have to wait another month, cuz the insurance company said "ok, jul 1st then"

basically bcbs just got a free month of insurance payment i cant use.

I actually quite dislike the physical titanium card. It hasn’t held up well, it’s difficult to pick up because it has no flex, it falls out of my wallet very easily because it’s slicker and has a lot more weight. It is not a good physical product.

I do like Apple Card as a service. And I use Apple Pay whenever possible. But not everyone takes it yet.

As a colleague of mine said, developers who first sharpen their axe deliver much more and of higher quality. Sharpening the axe could be: getting the right tools, cleaning and testing the code, learning better code design, etc.

bobmagicii,

which i feel like is exactly what happened to me.
