boonhet,

See on väärt oskus, meid on lausa tosinaid!

boonhet,

Saw an article that said that some execs demanded for search to have better user retention. I.e make the user search multiple times to find what they’re looking for, so they can be shown more ads.

boonhet,

There are like 4 people in the world who are proud of owning an Opel and I know 3 of them

That tattoo has got to make you particularly identifiable

boonhet,

I ran Gentoo for about 3 years (and will likely return soon) and I reckon there are plenty of really advanced Ubuntu users who know more about how my system works than I do.

Any mainstream general purpose distro can do mostly anything and can be used by power users. Some should ONLY be used by power users, but that doesn’t make them inherently better than a distro that both a newbie and a power user can understand and use.

You know why I use Gentoo? Literally the bragging rights. I doubt I’m optimizing things THAT much with my fancy compiler flags.

boonhet,

But GNOME itself is odd now. Or unfamiliar at least.

boonhet,

I never even minded the product placement in NFS. It was mostly aftermarket car parts companies. It got weird in NFSU2 when they shoehorned in AT&T Cingular or whatever

boonhet,

Maybe they found out that there’s an actress named Summer Glau and panicked

boonhet,

simple, clever sensor

Somehow the part code was superceded like 10 times on the W211 Benz. Looks like they still took a lot of fine-tuning to get right

boonhet,

Knight rider theme and I’m going criminal charge fast

boonhet,

Mine nearly doubled over 2 years. They cited increased costs of parts and repair work. Might be true, might not be. Might be they increased prices more than their costs did.

boonhet,

English at least has “going to” and “will” for future. In Estonian you just use present simple and the only way to know you’re talking about the future is if you hint it with some time related word.

You just say “I go to the supermarket” and it’s ambiguous. You say “I go to the supermarket tomorrow” and you know it’s talking about the future.

boonhet,

I used grammatically incorrect examples on purpose to point out there’s no present simple vs present continuous distinction in Estonian either.

boonhet,

That still makes you a young’un then, maybe just an old soul?

boonhet,

Emerge -avUDN @world

You now hack all the governments at once!

(I didn’t check the capitalization of the flags)

boonhet,

I think it’s the same to some extent for every nationality, but brits do have the worst reputation.

I talked to a Finnish guy who went from bartending in Estonia to bartending in Finland. He says he HATED having Finnish customers here in Estonia. Now in Finland they’re all the nicest people and barely even get drunk.

We all just want to do abroad what we don’t feel comfortable doing at home. Let loose like there’s no tomorrow.

boonhet,

If you Google it, the US actually bombed the hospital, rather than funding the construction. So no worries, they aren’t getting the healthcare either

boonhet,

Why not? I’ve always thought I’d like to go there once (and likely only once)

boonhet,

Thank you! I’ll try to visit a smaller festival one day instead, sounds a lot more fun.

boonhet,

I think you responded to the wrong comment.

Anyway, if you need it to run on a server, I don’t see why you’d need a DE. If you’re talking about the client, I don’t see why you’d need to run it on a server OS without a DE.

Tesla Software Update Traps TikToker Inside 115-Degree Car (gizmodo.com)

According to the Tesla owner’s manual, “Vehicle functions, including some safety systems and opening or closing the doors or windows, may be limited or disabled when installation is in progress and you could damage the vehicle.” Janel chose to heed Tesla’s warning and did not attempt to open her doors or windows during...

boonhet,

especially if you do not expect the automatic mode of operation to be fully functional 100% of the time?

It’s Tesla. What makes you think they expect their software to work anything less than 100% of the time without any bugs?

boonhet,

I’m not one to oppose electric windows on a car, but I’ve certainly managed to avoid touchscreens so far (going as new as 2019 in my current/last Mercedes, even - unfortunately they ruined everything and went all-in on touch shortly afterwards).

I’d rather spend the extra money on more horsepower or a better suspension than on a crappy infotainment system that only ever shows the Carplay loading message and then is replaced by Carplay.

boonhet,

Musk was hated by a lot of people long before his takeover of Twitter, and by many before he even started going all political. The EnoughMuskSpam subreddit has existed for 8 years.

The man shills solutions that don’t work (Hyperloop) to oppose public transit projects so the US would stay car dependent, lets his company operate with near zero quality control (literally, interior panels often just… fall off on Teslas a couple of days or weeks after delivery?) and so on. This was all long before 2020, which is the year he turned into a right-wing nutter because… checks notes … the lockdowns were affecting Tesla’s revenue and he wanted to be able to force his employees to continue working in unsafe conditions.

boonhet,

And if you mine crypto at the same time, it either uses even more resources, or the game runs slower.
