I have been greatly enjoying 'Citadel', a mega-budget high-octane glossy spy series that stars Priyanka Chopra (after whom the term 'Priapic' was coined, especially for me). https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2023/apr/28/citadel-review-this-absurdly-fun-spy-thriller-is-televisual-crack

It was blazing hot and my tits started itching, which is a sure sign of incoming rain. Mrs L scoffed at my meteorological mamms, but sure enough, the skies have darkened, the temperature dropped, and there is a rumble of thunder in the distance.

Hmm. I bought a cheap Dell brick from eBay (for NVDA testing) that belonged to some council or Fe college. Now it's telling me that my Windows license is expiring. Is this a real thing? I just assumed that, like in the Old Days, the OEM-installed OS just continued to work until Microsoft retired it or the machine gave up the ghost.

Is there some sort of utility (VSCode extension?) that, when opening a stylesheet with background shorthand declarations (and Flex and Grid shorthands) and expand them into the full, longhand equivalents. (See https://csswizardry.com/2016/12/css-shorthand-syntax-considered-an-anti-pattern/ for why I'd want to do that.)

"We will not raise the rate of income tax, VAT or National Insurance." promised Bozo and the Tories in 2019. And then they did. Today, they've promised that again. https://bylinetimes.com/2022/04/06/boris-johnson-conservative-broken-manifesto-promises-2019/

Six hours on this boring boat, my eyes smarting at the frankly vulgar showiness of the ocean blue and ridiculously flamboyant flowers

Some daft flowers, all seemingly from the same plant but different colours, in a pathetic act of horticultural "look at me" desperation

I was watching Australian Masterchef, and the audience applauded when someone made a meringue. It took me by surprise; usually Australians boo meringue.

You'll all be glad to know I had my morning poo before my shower. This is the highlight of the day, as I prepare to write something called scss into a legacy Drupal codebase that requires some lumbering behemoth called Docker just to see my changes. I have decided to become a match girl in the Bullring market.

I'm watching TV show about the church of the latter day saints. It's interesting because the stuff they believe is incomprehensible to me. Yet I have met many Mormons and, without exception, each has been a really good human being.

Top work from Formstack. After my blogpost about how they won't allow WCAG AA-compliant forms, they've updated to 'enhance accessibility'. No details, but their page titled "Create accessible forms with WCAG/Section 508 compliance" has the line "To learn more about WCAG/Section 508 compliance, read this blog post." which is a broken link. https://www.formstack.com/features/508-compliant-forms

Who can recommend an article on making responsive sites without media queries, eg using Flexbox/ Grid's intrinsic fluidity? Preferably one that has a case study, so the way to think about it gets discussed?

On the same day a 2 year old starved to death, alll the noise of the continuing tory civil war is over a policy to send a maximum of 200 people a year to Rwanda, at a cost of £169k per person, according to Priti Vacant Patel's own figures. No grandstanding Tory resignations over the offer of £42 compensation to victims of child abuse. 150 judges can be found suddenly down the back of the sofa, while rape victims wait seven years to get in front of a judge.

What's everyone using these days to manage their CSS, make sure it's hard to write clashing styles but reduced unused CSS on any given page? I prefer not BEM style convention-only things. Are CSS Layers + a convention good? Any 11ty-friendly build tools?

I'm celebrating Enraged Loony Weekend by being a leftie, wearing a poppy, not hating Palestinians en masse and not being furious at Hindus celebrating their new-fangled Diwali on the same day as Remembrance Day.
