Credit where it's due, it's a relief that DnDBeyond has confirmed 's 5.5 edition will be included in the Creative Commons SRD. This will be a net gain for the hobby, whatever WotC/Hasbro have planned to leverage profits from their famous brand.

We're still waiting on the promised 3.5 rules CC SRD as well, though.

@bedirthan Thanks, I see it now at the bottom (I was skimming it for a specific mention of 3.5 ed.). I suppose we’ll have to wait for after the 5.2 SRD’s release for that, but maybe we’ll see 4th ed., too.

    Does anybody know of a way to upscale images with good results?

    Here's the problem: we were recently handed POD versions of PDFs, which we were going to extract the images from. They were embedded at >300 DPI, but were originally 72. We're looking to salvage a small portion of them.

    @rivetgeek @theboatend Yeah, not ideal. Grey-scale shading on line art is going to make it tough to automate. I’ve used this AI https://www.upscale.media for basic work, but I doubt it will produce acceptable results from this example. I agree with @theboatend that hand redrawing of some kind is the best option (if you don’t want to start from scratch on simple elements like compass roses).

    @robindlaws You have two Stats: RODENT and CHEER (both start at 3). Use RODENT to sneak, investigate, scrap, cause merry mischief. Use CHEER to whistle, dance, romance, sweet-talk others. Roll d6 against stat in tests, increase stat on success; on failure, move 1 point to other stat. If RODENT reaches 6, lose anthropomorphic abilities and retire to mouse hole; if CHEER does, depart for Hollywood, eventually creating a show biz behemoth that will sue anyone for using your likeness.

    @robindlaws Grant Howitt’s elegant Honey Heist mechanics are incredibly adaptable. But I’m now contemplating the feasibility of a full-blown Steamboat Willie one-page , starring Michael and Minerva Mouse (for trademark reasons).

    Wizards of the Coast has released an updated statement about their policy regarding AI art.

    It sounds great until you start wondering why they specifically said "We require artists, writers, and creatives contributing to the D&D TTRPG to refrain from using AI generative tools to create final D&D products" instead of just "create D&D products".

    So, on a whim, I started watching Blake's 7. I'd heard of it, of course, being a lifelong nerd, but I'd never seen an episode.

    Now I've seen the first three. And it is, dare I say it, kind of good? I mean it's micro-budget and dated, but unlike Dr. Who of the same era, it's not cheesy. If you can ignore the terrible props and sets, it's earnest, dark, and surprisingly nuanced. Not every opponent is evil and not every primary character is good.

    Also, unlike most of the era, it's not episodic.

    @montecook Over the course of four series, Blake's 7 is often kind of good, frequently bad, and, finally, in its very last episode, amazingly great. S4E13 "Blake" is not only one of the best episodes in SF TV, but it also elevates the entire programme from cult to classic. If you're going in cold to this show, do not let anyone spoil it for you, ESPECIALLY NOT THE FINALE.
