buddascrayon,

That was the selling point before we got into mass production of disposable plastic everything.

buddascrayon,

What the media did to Anita Hill was absolutely horrendous and every outlet and personality who made a punch line out of her back then should apologize for their absolute disrespect of a woman who did something that was beyond brave.

buddascrayon,

Sooner than later please.

buddascrayon, (edited )

The me too movement is simply many in society finally telling women that it’s finally ok to tell the stories of how men in powerful positions have abused and humiliated them.

Anita Hill is basically an original badass from a time when it was not only not ok but severely frowned upon. She told her story even though our society crucified her for it.

buddascrayon,

He’s still very conservative. He’s basically a 1970s era Republican.

buddascrayon,

I love the concept of this comic but it is put together all wrong.

buddascrayon,

The last panel should be the second and third panels and the second and third panel should be 4th and maybe a fifth. I don’t even know if that’s necessary but you get the picture. It should be a bit of a “oh yeah okay, that’s why” when you look at the person who’s on the switch.

The way things are ordered now when you get the last panel it’s more like a “hurr durr, I guess capitalism suck” than a “of course it’s fucking capitalism!!”

buddascrayon,

but when the waste stream becomes lucrative enough they’ll find a way.

The problem with capitalism in a nutshell.

buddascrayon,

Ok, I’m with you on most of your points but you are mistaken in thinking Ukraine is a poor country. They are literally the bread basket of eastern Europe. That’s one of the biggest reasons Putin is so intent on taking it.

buddascrayon,

With the safety features built into all nuclear plants, it would have to be a crazed nuclear engineer and the place would have to be abandoned and yet still somehow functioning. This is real life, not the Simpsons.

buddascrayon,

I mean to say that when financial incentive is the only incentive then a lot of things that would make this a better world end up on the scrap heap.

buddascrayon,

“What would you say is your biggest weakness?”

buddascrayon,

They always have been. Capitalism isn’t about a free market, it’s about keeping the richest most powerful industrialists at the top.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek surprised by how much laying off 1,500 employees negatively affected the streaming giant’s operations (fortune.com)

When Spotify announced its largest-ever round of layoffs in December, CEO Daniel Ek hailed a new age of efficiency at the streaming giant. But four months on, it seems he and his executives weren’t prepared for how tough filling in for 1,500 axed workers would be....

buddascrayon,

I have been using and will continue to use Pandora. I pay five bucks a month for no commercials it continually sends me music that I like to listen to and I have had little to no problems with it since I first signed up. While currently everyone I know who uses Spotify does nothing but complain about how their playlists keep playing them stuff they don’t want or have previously disliked.

buddascrayon,

The rich and powerful never get treated with the same distain and lack of dignity that the non-wealthy in this country are treated with in our fucked up judicial system. And Trump has proven it over and over again as he never sees any real consequences for what he’s done.

buddascrayon, (edited )

One of these days I got to rewatch Lain. That show was genre defining.

I still listen to the song though. “And you don’t seem to understaaaand…”

buddascrayon,

Oi, don’t forget Prodigy!

buddascrayon,

Considering what happened to Rick and Morty, this might be right.

buddascrayon,

It’s those little things that scare me the most. Insects make up a large amount of the bottom tier of the food chain and are a necessary part of the reproductive cycle of a lot of plants. This is a much clearer indicator of how deep in the shit we are with climate change.

buddascrayon,

What isn’t said enough is that rural whites are being told to blame all the wrong people for their very real problems. As we argue in the book, Hollywood liberals didn’t destroy the family farm, college professors didn’t move manufacturing jobs overseas, immigrants didn’t pour opioids into rural communities, and critical race theory didn’t close hundreds of rural hospitals. When Republican politicians and the conservative media tell rural whites to aim their anger at those targets, it’s so they won’t ask why the people they keep electing haven’t done anything to improve life in their communities.

This right here is so on the nose it’s not even funny. Republican political strategy in rural America is 100% distraction politics. Using every nonsense “moral” issue they can come up with to distract from the fact that they are completely incapable of governing anything effectively for the benefit of the people.

buddascrayon,

There’s like 1 guy. I mean, I know there are masses of angry chuds out there who hate her(and also not-so-secretly lust after her, which is beyond sick) but in this thread there’s just the one.

P.S. the other is a troll who is using sarcasm wrong.

buddascrayon,

Do you live in a totalitarian state? Do you not get to vote for your government officials? Doesn’t matter if you’re American or not, right to repair and consumer rights isn’t solely an American issue.
