    Question for the crowd - I've been hearing for a while that Planned Parenthood (as an org) tends to act like union-busting cowards. I'd like to move my recurring donation elsewhere.

    Can anyone recommend a local reproductive care / abortion services org that does right by its workers? Or at least may need the money more than a natl org like PP?

    The fact that you see very little presence of the larger cryptocurrency community on the Fediverse shows the actual interest in distributed systems compared to their interest in making money. A large part of the cryptocurrency community are just VCs or wannabe VCs.

    I think there's a few factors that explain this:

    1. a lot of crypto people don't really carea bout the values, they just want money, like you said
    2. there's like a half dozen blockchains based social media networks fighting for a very small pie at any given time (bluesky, farcaster, lens) and because network effects are what they are, none are winning against big bird
    3. the really hardcore decentralists (like the crowd) vault right past Mastodon to maximally decentralized and encryptable services like and
    4. an existing culture in the broader fediverse that's deeply hostile to crypto

    Taken altogether, it makes it seem improbable that we'll see crypto communities congregate in the Fediverse

    Agreed, would love for it to happen. Meantime, I've accepted I won't be getting my crypto news and discourse on here - which is fine, plenty of it elsewhere

    guys, please start advocating people to get on signal/xmpp/matrix for their own good in this increasingly fascist environment. Even if your friends dont agree, the word needs to get out asap, nothing is a rhetoric anymore. Everyone in this group already has seen whats happening inside and outside our countries and how persecutions are pursued.

    GrapheneOS is awesome.

    If you're in the market for an Android OS that respects your privacy, has secure defaults, and still enables you to use Google apps and Play store apps on your own terms - I highly recommend it. Great experience using it so far.

    Yeah, seriously. I haven't had any issues, but I've started removing apps and moving to home screen links to websites for a bunch of stuff anyway, just to reduce attack surface.
