everyone at my job is talking about doing ERP today and as someone who has had unsupervised internet access since I was a teenager in the mid-90s, I am definitely not mature enough to interpret that as "Enterprise Resource Planning"

    @GossiTheDog My last two laptops have been year-old mid-range gaming laptops and they've been the best machine for the money I've ever had. Definitely worth it to me. Don't be embarrassed, even if it's a high end current model. You (mostly) get what you pay for.

    oh MY GOD.
    so I can't inject a file into the fallout 1 DAT file, because the file I need to overwrite is in the ART\INTRFACE folder.
    You'll note the folder appears on the right. It doesn't on the left.

    So I can't select the correct folder

    ugh, projects:

    • Wheel of Fortune (2010, Wii): I need to get way smarter or rewrite Dolphin. Neither is likely to happen anytime soon
    • Barbie Fashion Show: I need to write a tool to inject textures, not just extract them. This should be easy if I don't change image sizes
    • Take No Prisoners: I'm not really sure where I am with this one/what's left. I can maybe dump opcodes of the scripting system with a bit more work?

    I recently got hearing aids hoping they would help with some of my processing issues. audiologist found moderate hearing loss and recommended them. I got the top end model and learned a couple things: 1.) these things are not designed at all for moderate detected loss 2.) they don't noise cancel or block so they can't really help with processing in noise, only amplify some part of the signal. and it's not that precise or smart. also the bt sucks. I can and will return them. sigh

    @renice My regular old wireless earbuds have some options to noise cancel different frequencies. Options are block all noise, let everything pass through, or only let voice frequencies through. I'm sure higher end earbuds have more options.

    Would it make sense to go that route? Especially if you're not going to get much help from hearing aids with "moderate" loss?

    The new #Pathfinder #Highhelm book introduces Selby Stormshod, an #agender dwarf NPC who is such a skilled sculptor they were once arrested because their humanoid sculptures were so realistic that authorities thought Selby petrified people. Luckily the guy who commissioned Selby came back from vacation just in time to clear things up.

    Also introduced is Espen Farseeker, a dwarven transgender man who is a "hairdresser, stylist, and occasional witch" who is incredibly talented with beards and helps dwarves of all genders encourage or inhibit beard growth to levels that are more gender affirming. He also specializes in styling or growing beards to hide unwanted burns and scars.

    This book is great. Pathfinder dwarves may be becoming my favorite fantasy dwarves. I'm going to need to fill out a character sheet for the dwarf NPC who smashed @ryel's egg. This lore is so fun.

    If there happen to be any Western #Oregon or #Portland #HamRadio folks out there, what are some of the most popular VHF/UHF repeaters in the area? Just moved to #PDX and trying to find some traffic to listen to.

    I'm already listening to the PARC repeaters and they don't seem to have much traffic.

    @davealvarado Honestly, the PDX HRO was not very welcoming to me last summer. As a "younger" ham who definitely doesn't look like a dude, they didn't pay any attention to me and when they finally did they were condescending AF. I would have bought quite a bit more stuff if they treated me better.

    @mttaggart How long ago was that? Apparently there were some DOT regulation changes last fall that require changes to when a bill of lading is required and what the rules are for paying your fees.

    Thankfully, I have in writing that they'll accept cash, check, money order, or card (with a fee). I'm not above slapping someone in the face with a contract.
