@revengeday But honestly I'm not sure it's helpful for us anyway, since we have entire states bigger than Germany, with lots of separate zones for pollen and air quality.

At long last, I’ve released SIX new shirt designs for my series three in my shop, which including the AI design i posted earlier! Check ‘em out!

https://billhunt.dev/shop/

(Edit: some folks have pointed out that the prices are wrong and MUCH higher on the product detail pages, but correct in the list view. I've contacted support, but in the meantime the price when you add it to your cart is the cheaper, and correct one!)

I am posting this as a call to my fellow hiring managers to remove racist degree reqs!

I got to chat with Natalie Alms about how we're moving the Federal government away from degree-based hiring requirements and towards practical skills.

Historically these have been used to keep out minority candidates. In Griggs v. Duke Power, SCOTUS ruled that such requirements are ILLEGAL under the Civil Rights Act. Yet instead we have enshrined them, burying the racist roots.

Everyone is talking about fast fashion, but no one is talking about the plague of fast furniture. It’s impossible to find true durable pieces that can last for generations anymore, even the so-called “Amish made” pieces are typically cheap stuff being bulk produced in one of a dozen massive factories.

I can’t even find a solid wood panel bed at any of the vintage or resale shops anymore. Particleboard is the only choice we’re being given. It’s tragic.

A real thing everyone in the U.S. did straight through the nineties was have their social security number printed on their checks. We would just hand out pieces of paper with our name, address, phone number, bank account info, and SSN.

    Reposting as not-a-reply for visibility:

Here in Richmond, VA, we're one of the first cities to have DeJoy's new USPS plan, and things are BAD. Mail not being delivered for days on end. Packages going missing.

I've also talked to the carriers and they're furious. 18+ hour shifts, constantly changing routes, it's a total nightmare.

I'm a huge fan of USPS, my father was a postmaster, and what DeJoy is doing is criminal. Biden could replace him immediately but doesn't!

And if you do, you can still get a free sticker from me, over on my website! Also, since it is my birthday, for the day I've enabled one of the secret easter egg themes hidden on my site, in the style of one of my favorite bands, KMFDM.

On April 9, 1865, the Confederate army surrendered to the Union.

During their retreat, the Confederates burned down their own capital, the city of Richmond, VA - my current home. They burned 90% of the business district, all the warehouses and goods. The citizens were left destitute and homeless.

I need you to remember this when you're fighting white supremacy: these people will turn on everyone else to save themselves. They're cowards who believe in nothing but their own self interests.

Maybe I woke up on the wrong side of the coffin this morning, but I'm sick and tired of the argument that the federal government shouldn't do things that the private sector can do instead.

The private sector is only barely good at squeezing out every dollar from the risk/reward equation - it's absolute shit at delivering things that people want and need.

The new IRS Direct File pilot is a perfect example, but we need more of these disruptions whose main innovations are cost and quality.

Note: This is not a request for advice or help.

I continue to be astonished what a dumpsterfire webdev is these days. I sat down over the weekend to code up a little Sinatra app and got completely waylaid by the inability to install the most recent Ruby version on Ubuntu.

Like, how do we expect normal people to do this stuff when it's made absolutely impossible for even nerds who have been writing code for 30 years?

(Anyway, back to Node I guess, because at least it mostly just works.)
