I have been programming since I was 12 (born in '73 #genx), currently enjoy coding in #Rust. I use Linux every day; I prefer open to closed. I try to live and let live when it comes to people's tech choices.

I work in tech but am learning how better to separate that from my passion for programming.

I used to podcast, I plan to again soon.

I practice #zazen, #qigong, and #taichi every day.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

I was hoping might start with some sun but woke to more gray. If the forecast is accurate, we should get some sun midday and all day tomorrow.

I missed my window for a run this morning. I hurt my foot last night, banged it into Ziggy's crate in the dark, so not sure I wanted to run on it anyway. I will still exercise, my non-running regimen. I do better when I get more exercise in each week rather than let it slide too many days.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

The gray weather has returned but the forecast for the week has shifted. We may get a few showers this afternoon but looks like the first half of the week may be clear.

I've assembled a new rake and plan to spend at least part of my morning working to get two trimmings worth of leftover, wet grass clippings bagged up so we'll be less reliant on the dry weather in case the weather shifts again.

Good morning and TZAG, friends. :totoro:

I am having a very good morning after a great evening last night. Something in my equanimity practice clicked last night. The result felt great. I am still figuring out how, what, and if my skills have grown enough to intentional duplicate it. Regardless the experience is encouraging me in my practices.

I hope you have something positive to lift you up into a great weekend.

Adding to my generalized morning worries is the latest signs of just how badly my industry is degrading. No one is unaffected. Feeling crushed between the "Just switch to Linux" sentiment I'm seeing and the entirely understandable backlash of "Don't tell me just to use Linux". Now with search engines too.

I have no other answers to offer. There are no simple answers left. The options seem to be accept hot garbage or figure it out entirely for yourself. Neither are great.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

Back to the grind, . I am still getting used to the shift in my mind over the last few days. My usual morning anxiety, especially at the start of a fresh work week, was still present but more attenuated and easily managed.

I managed to get out for my first run of the week. The sun is still brilliant and I hope to enjoy a little of it amongst my 1:1s and other meetings.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

I am feeling surprisingly well after staying up with the for a watchalong last night. Yesterday all around was a stellar day. That momentum is sustaining me nicely this morning.

I am enjoying the relaxing long weekend vibe. I might get up to something creative later. Nice not to feel any urgency to do so.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

I am starting with tea and reading by a cozy fire out on our patio.

I have an overdue eye exam later this morning. I am hoping to find some focus after to make more progress on my new $dayjob project.

I also feel overdue for a social outing. I plan to visit my favorite local tap room towards the end of my day.

We are finally watching The Beekeeper. Peak Statham?

Whuff.

This movie, it is not good.

We've discovered how much Statham is too much Statham. He is now out-Stathaming bullets. He's a bee themed Batman.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

#today is my last day working in office for this strategic planning session. I am hoping for a shorter day given the solid progress the last two days. Also many colleagues are traveling home today.

These three days have been super helpful for me as a new employee and also very enjoyable. Our offices are gorgeous and I enjoyed working with a wider group of people than I usually do.

I cleaned the yard and took care of some spot gardening after breakfast. I picked up my new eyeglasses. I cooked some brown rice and mycelium cutlets for lunches.

Now that I've taken care of the day's needfuls, I can spend the remains relaxing and recovering, starting with some reading in the sun and the green.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

I still feel run down after the three day $dayjob planning event earlier this week. The time was well spent but demanding. Staying up for even part of didn't help but hopefully a day of slack will do the trick.

I have a single errand I would like to complete before noon, picking up my new glasses (huzzah). The rest of the day I hope to take advantage of the abundant sunshine to continue recovering and recharging.

Despite being thoroughly worn out , I managed to accomplish most of what I wanted from my $dayjob agenda.

I spent some time out in the yard. I didn't get to spend much time in the green over the last three days, arriving home most nights after bedtime.

I worked on recovering a few other ways. I think I barely had enough in the tank for my run but the movement and more green helped. I had two extended sits that definitely started to regenerate my exhausted equanimity.

This strategic planning summit for $dayjob was well run. We accomplished what we set out to do, compile a rough plan for digital that we can share with the rest of the org.

That means we were able to finish on time, i.e. early, today. I even have time to catch up with a friend over beer and still be home in time for dinner.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

I have fully returned to my routines after a weekend of mostly recovery.

I went on my first run of the week this morning. The sun and temperature were just about perfect. I did a quick round of yard maintenance.

I have a lot of writing and planning for $dayjob. Today I plan to finish writing up my notes from the three day in office meeting last week then resume working on problem discovery for my project with an eye towards finishing that this week.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

I feel like I used to after a business trip even though my in person meeting was local.

My reserves are depleted. I already did some work on recovery, with an extended sit and a run along the creek in the sunshine.

Honestly, simply returning to my usual routines is highly restorative.

My $dayjob tasks for today are mostly writing though I have an idea for a small code experiment as a break, mostly to test some ideas in the small.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

was another slow morning with a gradual shift into chores, for the day and the week ahead.

I did my daily circuit of the yard and gave the vegetable plants their weekly food. I prepared ingredients for my lunches. I started laundry early because this week includes towels and linens.

I think the rest of the day will be mostly reading and a bit more recovery before the week ahead.

I sliced the mycelium cutlets I cooked yesterday and rested in the refrigerator overnight. I worked slowly and carefully yielding my best results so far. I avoided tearing or shredding any pieces.

I made up my usual spice mix and added hot water to help open and meld the flavors. I put everything back in the fridge until lunch. Last time, working with the hot spice slurry caused the strips to start to fall apart. I think working cold right up until the air fryer is key.
