Ok without support for searching chat room history, messages are effectively ephemeral... like connecting to without a bouncer 🤦🏼‍♂️

This is going to probably make a lot of people angry/restart IRC/matrix flamewars, but I feel like it has to be said if we are going to push as a more open alternative to the other walled chat gardens (proprietary or otherwise) out there. I, a IRC user for decades, want Matrix to succeed, but the UX needs to suck a lot less than it does today.

i know artists like to make fast/slow versions of their songs but can they start doing versions of their songs at 10% of the speed?

@aen_the_acolyte, I guess the technical answer is :neocat_sign_no: because recording at 10x sample rate would require a much faster machine. Audio slowed down digitally to 10% would be capped at 2.4 or 4.8 kHz which is like MP3 at 8 kb/s or worse.

Several of the major social media platforms - Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter - have effectively declared war on linking to things and I absolutely hate it

"Link in my bio" / "Link in thread" / "Link in first comment"... or increasingly no link at all, just an unsourced screenshot of a page

FWIW @xarvos and @captainepoch, only because it’s the easiest one with ACME outside NixOS. I’ve seen complaints about upgrading break things but it might not apply anymore.

The RISC-V node is still down, will try to bring it up this weekend.

@captainepoch, a RISC-V SBC was sent to us after @xarvos prayed to the 🐐🇸🇪 god.

As for the other thing, NixOS provides ACME integration for nginx to beg for TLS cert automatically.
