JUST A FRIENDLY FYI FOR THOSE POSTING POLITICAL MEMES:
I’ve noted MANY Fedi accounts who have stated they will NOT boost photos that do not include alt-text descriptions.
I also see a LOT of political memes (with excellent & often critical messages) that don’t have alt-text.
PLEASE take the minute or so to include these descriptions. We need all the exposure we can get & memes are a popular & effective aid to communication.
THANK YOU! 😊
(Note: I post a lot of memes & keep pre-typed alt-text descriptions for each in Apple notes so it’s a simple copy/paste procedure when tooting.)
Homemade won ton soup last night but made with P.F. Chang dumplings, which I guess makes it dumpling soup. TGTBTASE (Too Good To Be True And So Easy)!
I’m a big fan of Aussie film/tv and of actor Simon Baker - found two newish movies of his: “Limbo,” which was EXCELLENT, and “Blaze” which I saved to watch today. Yay. 🍿🍿
Vagabond son & DIL sent these pics of Canyonlands NP.
@tiamat271
Yum.
(“Limbo” didn’t come up on (Prime) search for me, but it did appear in Baker’s list of movies & was rentable from Amazon — weird little glitch.)
Sat outside reading with “my” critters for three hours this sunny morning. The neighborhood mockingbird is a VERY enthusiastic virtuoso!
Brunch was leftover plain rotini with dollops of Tostitos’ queso dip. Unbelievably tasty/spicy (& not all that decadent).
January’s Albatross chicks in Dunedin, NZ, are about halfway to fledge time. The average chick now weighs about 20 pounds (equal to an adult) and are getting some dark wing plumage. (By comparison, bald eagles fledge at about 12 weeks & males weigh about 9 lbs.) Here’s the live-cam boy and his mom, talking things over before lunch. ⬇️ (From “Lady Hawk” YouTube channel)
Two-hour afternoon concert by our enthusiastic neighborhood mockingbird, a master in polyphony, with ballet interludes by squirrels & jays.
The hummingbird I spotted yesterday announced his official return with the customary hovering outside my screened slider, and roosting in his regular spot in a myrtle tree.
I snapped this photo scrambling my way through a dense, overgrown oleander to scatter birdseed.
Congratulated myself on unaccustomed patience when the hammer people began work next door at 7 a.m.
Grandson came to visit and is this minute running an errand for me (which includes ice cream).
Saw “my” hummingbird for the first time in a couple of weeks. Everything is in bloom and he must be sampling it all & skipping his feeder here. Today’s flyover mallard count: 🦆🦆🦆
Lazy, pleasant day even if it did include my monthly trek to the salon.
Today the two regular mallards were joined by a third on their zoom run over the yard. If this expansion continues, I’ll have a flock of 33 in a month. 😱
A few of the petunias I planted for color outside my slider, and my view from my permanent seat on the couch. (All reasons I rarely leave the house.)
In considering replacing my elderly (2018) IPadPro, I walked through the Apple sales configuration dialogue yesterday.
It’s weird, but I didn’t see the options for “CONFERS ‘EXPERT STATUS’” on:
Epidemiology
International diplomacy
US Constitution & all associated legal matters, especially trials & appeals
SCOTUS
US & Int’l politics
Presidential debates, polling & election strategies
Climatology
World religions
All inequality
AI & its implications
Strategic war tactics
—— and every other damn thing (almost) everyone on social media opines about.
Re-landscaping construction continues next door keeping me inside, but also reminding me how precious is this neighborhood’s silence 99% of the time.
My roses are resting, but all jasmine & oleanders are in full bloom, and a couple of crape myrtle blossoms have appeared. (Pics below only show a portion of plants.)
Amazingly good & amazingly easy homemade wor won ton soup last night, with leftovers for tonight.
Since irises are showing their beautiful faces now, here are two of my fave pics from a (genuinely) medieval garden at the Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud, Loire Valley, France. (Although their remains are absent, this is the original burial site of Henry II, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Richard the Lionheart, etc.)
@cynblogger hi. Gorgeous irises, I have photos of a very similar variety from the front of my house. I don't remember where I got it from, the rest of my irises are purples.
Stunning 😍
Still exhausted from the last dinner I’ll ever host, but everything is cleaned up, including the dirty dishes I put away neatly in the cupboards. 🤬 (I thought I ran the dishwasher; it must have been a Vicodin dream.)
Granddaughter took the family’s first dip into NC son’s new pool, in the rain.
Vagabond son & DIL hiked 4 miles into Bryce Canyon at 8000’ elevation. Got some great photos & survived. Also survived the motorcycle ride to the national park.
