Is this guy seriously saying environmental impact is less problematic than “AI” improvements, which is driving pollution up? I’d heard a couple of people say that Xbox was basically not worth aiming for anymore as an indie, unless they offer you a chunky Game Pass deal - which they probably won’t, unless you’re a known quantity by reputation or sales on other platform. @sinbad @glassbottommeg It's interesting how there has been a wave of "let's help indies get onto our platform" from both Sony and Xbox, but it has shifted back to ignoring these, or not being worth aiming at for smaller studios (or just straight up being too convoluted and stupid, with Game pass)

Maybe they realized it's not worth it financially (since that's the only metric that's used nowadays 🙄) to try to bring indie games into platforms that are mostly populated by super mainstream gamers.

    @leonardbertos ça devait arriver à un moment avec leur conneries de LLM, mais j'espérais quand même plus de répit...
    Y a plus qu'à voir jusqu'à quand ça va tenir, que (j'espère!) le public a plus de jugeotte que ça, et que ça va faire belle bulle de savon qui crève dans sa propre merde le plus rapidement possible... 😑

    Was thinking in giving Godot a try, I see that there are 2 versions, c#(mono) and gdscript. What should I go for, I know c# but unsure if I might be walking into a minefield if support is not on par with the built in scripting, or some things are not as ideal. Performance is not an issue for me at this point.

    @djlink I've been giving godot C# a try for a few days, trying to figure out the same as you. So far everything is pretty simple, barred 2 things:

    • when you have a problem/question, there's more hoops to jump through before being able to find a solution, due to less discussions and docs for C#
    • communication between C# and gdscript works, but when you're trying to go for more advanced stuff (like static variables, c#<>gdscript type casting...) it can get pretty rough.

    In case you haven't heard of it: the Stop Killing Games action against publishers removing games without any possibility to play what you previously bought is ongoing, and you should probably look at it and participate 😊

    Mass tourism goes around most places now, which is odd, economy seems kinda bad, layoffs everywhere, everything much more expensive, but a lot of tourism, something doesn’t quite click to me.

    @psychicparrot42 It's these kind of things that when people start knowing about and it's talked about more around them, they start self-diagnosing "oh it's probably what I have", because it's "cool" to think that even the littlest of things you have is actually not your fault and you don't have to actually reflect on your behavior... 🙄
