#Japan#Film Festival Online 2024 will be Weds 5th-19th June (starts & ends noon JST so effectively the 18th for UK).
It's a great opportunity to see Japanese films which can be hard to find.
I'm going to watch as many as I can and post brief thoughts under #JFF2024 with the aim of helping those with busy lives choose one or two. Happy to have conversations as well.
Please follow the hashtag if you're interested.

I also gathered the films into an MDL list to make it easier to find synopses & reviews and decide which to prioritise. Year, duration and genre tags are from the JFF site.
I'll add brief thoughts to the list after I've seen each one.
If you're curious about any of them, the films' MDL pages are an easy way to find out a bit more. #JFF2024 https://mydramalist.com/list/47av2YNL
Hello dear people I follow who are interested in films, recs and culture in general. I just wanted to make sure you knew about the Japan Film Festival Online in the post above. 23 films available for two weeks from Weds.
Please boost the original post (not this one) if you think your followers would be interested too. @arratoon @Vinjii @mothninja @mcmullin @olivermantell
Morning. I dreamt last night that there was a Masto / Fediverse meet-up, something along the lines of the emfcamp that's happening this weekend, where people were giving talks about various things (Welsh was one, the history of the River Thames was another.) People were hanging out in their various groups and making food together (it was being held in a hostel / big country house type place) and it was just quite cool to be able to come together like that.
@sheepnik What a lovely dream 💖
I'm sure a chicken knitting workshop would be very popular. And since it's imagined, we'll all be able to muddle through on the knitting 😊 @eclectech can lead a nature photography walk too.
I'm 4 episodes in and there's no violence, no dramatic moments and no traumatic experiences.
It's all about status and competition. Both in the Korean society and among people working for hagwons.
@ronsboy67 Change of topic but I've been meaning to write you to make sure you know about this - Japan Film Festival Online, starts this Weds for two weeks. #JFF2024 to talk about the films and/or the two series.
@ronsboy67 You're very welcome :) I thought you'd be keen.
Thanks for your thoughts on this one. I'm looking forward to it.
Would you add #JFF2024 as a hashtag to your post please? I'm hoping the hashtag will help others (like all the normal people who won't try to watch the entire festival) decide which films to watch during the two weeks.
I installed the Vipa (Thai PBS) app months ago but haven't watched anything until this evening. Not a BL, The Rhythm of Life / จังหวะชีวิตลิขิตฝัน episode 1 shows us an ambitious captain of a school marching band bullying his juniors, presenting heavy narcissistic traits. His teacher and even his father are irritated by this out of date behaviour to uphold old ideas of discipline. Very very intense first episode (50 minutes).
The aforementioned Thai lakorn / period drama with classic hierarchical images has in episode 25 the servants taking over the house. Still questioning if this can be called a development or not.
