@rml you have a source for this claim? The Israeli papers certainly have no announcement of plans to create a refugee camp.

But I'll agree with your thesis - the ethnic cleansing and genocidal assault conducted by Hamas last week did indeed bring terror

Netanyahu and the Likud support draw heavily from Mizrachi Jews who are Middle Eastern Jews, i.e. the descendants of refugees of our Arab neighbors. They comprise a comparable amount of the population. The Mizrachi Haredi ("ultra-orthodox") party Shas is also a member of Netanyahu's coalition. Soviet immigrants (1990+) are not driving current policy.

@KarunaX @richard_merren @jburd @zleap @alastair @susurros @palestine Russian-speakers form a distinct group in Israel as compared with Mizrachi and Adkenazi ("European") Jews. And also, it's usually conservative, hawkish Mizrachim accusing Askenazim of being leftists, socialists, soft on the Palestinians, and overly dovish. Stop pushing this absurd narrative of "European settler-colonialism" - it erases most of Israeli society and flattens a diverse population just to fit a narrative.
