I was excited by the #Europe#DMA news back in March, when will we finally be able to communicate with #WhatsApp users from other platforms like #Matrix ?
Imagine you have a dam. Fish want to get through the floodgates, but the gates are locked. You want to open the gates when a fish wants to pass through.
If you are a tech bro, you might say “we can use AI to solve this problem”
If you are the municipality of Utrecht, you instead say “what if we put a livestream of the canal on the internet and instructed viewers to push a button when they see one”
I'm looking for advice on how to get started with a NAS, probably Synology since it's beginner friendly and often well recommended. I'm thinking of a 2 bay case with 2x4TB HDDs in RAID1 setup. What do I have to look out for in a device to get the best bang for my bucks?...
Everyone’s been complaining about having access to passwords offline. While you could always do that with the Android app (and I assume iOS), you can now do it in Windows....
If I buy a #fairphone (maybe from #murena , so with #eOS installed, right?), will I be able to install some "standard" apps like the one from my bank, #itsme (a Belgian app to identify yourself), ...?
In other words, are you "stuck" with #foss apps or can you also still get "regular" apps?
Oh the hilarious irony. Can anyone recommend an up to date Firefox addon that gets rid of these fucking popups, automatically declining all but necessary? I've looked at a few but I remember folks here recommending some that I can't now for the life if me remember what they were. Thanks!
@Thorned_Rose On a side note on those cookies: "all but necessary". Even with 0 cookies, the website will open, nothing will explode, everything will be OK 😅
@unruhe@Tutanota@protonprivacy honestly, I have nothing against Tuta, I just chose Proton because of they new feature (forwarding rule to non-Proton recipients), and in the meantime I can say that Proton Support has been superb!
@lexoyo Thank you! I have my calendars on #caldav via my #synology , so that side is covered.
I'd like to move away from native apps, especially because on desktop, any event synced with caldav makes Apple calendar crash as soon as I enter a location 😡
Going to a provider that doesn't meet my #privacy convictions (like those requiring google-based accounts) is a no-go for me.
And going for an app that supports only #apple will get me stuck when I finally jump to #linux .
I'm happy to pay for a subscription if I have what I need and my privacy is respected, but that seems difficult nowadays...
So annoyed by those "cookies consent" pop ups! 😡
My #AdGuard doesn't seem to block them.
My #NextDNS either.
Nor #Mullvad .
What's the best approach here? Create a custom rule every time in AdGuard? Report it somewhere (e.g. one of NextDNS lists)? "Accept all" hoping that my protections will shield me from all theses trackers?
First, thanks a lot for your responsiveness. It feels great to keep in touch with my favourite service providers 😁
I'm a Mail Plus user, considering Unlimited, to use VPN. Given the "conflict" with DNS settings when switching on a VPN, how do you see your ad-blockkbg capabilities versus, for example, #nextdns ?
I believe #nextdns might be more configurable, but overall protection level is probably equal to the one of #protonVPN ?
Kind reminder to continue supporting and tipping those who help us enjoy the #fediverse : instance owners, application providers, ... they make the web a better place!
I just tipped @IceCubesApp , they are by far my favorite! 😻
Beginner looking for NAS advice

Proton Pass Windows App (sh.itjust.works)

"How to bypass and block infuriating cookie popups" 🙄🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
