Getting one or two stops back on a train to catch an empty train constitutes fare evasion. Many commuters think it would not be found, but not necessarily true. This is what friends of mine working as station staff told me:

  1. Ask all passengers to alight the train before it reverses

  2. Make sure that all passengers queue up before doors

  3. Do ticket inspection from the end of each queue

  4. Result in penalty fares of 200k to 800k yen in most cases.

@FlockOfCats Because every link is treated as open in new tab. I do not know if this is a default setting for browsers or whatever. But you just start checking one thing and suddenly you have 50 tabs open ... and no idea if some of them where things that you want to actually keep ... all fucked

Got home and couldn’t stop thinking about the backwardness of all the rUleZ🤪 Went back to the library hoping to check it out to analyze more deeply (since i got a new manager this week who seems quite old school) 30 minutes later and it was gone. 🤷🏻

I had a couple things come across my timeline that made me think about how far science, especially space science, has come during my lifetime.

For example, when I was younger, Pluto was not much more than a few blurry pixels of a planet, now it is a richly detailed world (and dwarf planet).

When I was a kid, there were 9 planets, now we know thousands, most exoplanets outside the solar system. Wild to think about. 1/3 🧵

I’ve seen several posts of old Macs recently, so I dug out my old MacBook G4 (from ca. 2003) to see what shape it’s in.

It’s a thicc boi. 😳 (13-in MacBook Pro M1 shown for comparison)

It turns on and makes the Mac noise, but seems to not load the OS 😢

Maybe I’ll try to make a recovery CD and see if I can get it going 💡
