MINI-STOP is such a weird combini. I don’t go to them often because there are a lot fewer stores. On the whole, they seem kinda low-end, but they have a lot of diamonds in the rough (spicy crunky chicken is 🔥)

Both on mastodon and IRL, I’ve heard some discussion that many small quakes are best for preventing one big quake. I’m not a geologist, but I have some bad news.

Firstly, it is not at all clear that, in a complex system like the Earth’s crust, a release of stress in one place doesn’t somehow increase it somewhere else. We can’t really predict earthquakes at all. There’s a reason for this — it’s intractably hard (for now). But it’s probably worse than you think 🧵

I’m really not good with anything cringey. I just can’t handle it.

The Office and Borat are funny, but in the really cringey moments, I go from “haha this is funny” to severely anxious “I feel like I’m gonna die of second-hand embarrassment”.

Or there was the video of the dude mansplaining golf swing to the woman who was a golf pro—I had to nope out due to cringe overload.
