    @decryption label maker? Mine prints 24mm labels and you can add QR codes, images etc, monochrome oniy though. 3rd party tape cartridges are cheap as, pretty sturdy but come off with a fingernail and no residue

    @decryption typo in the first sentence of the "Is the Zidoo Z9X worth it..." paragraph. "Jellyfin and *Plex"

    Why do house listings fail to state if it has rooftop solar? Surely that's a real selling point

    gurgle,
    @gurgle@aus.social avatar

    @decryption hope that changes as the tech matures and EVs become more popular

    @decryption oh god internet yes, I had that in the back of my mind as I was browsing some listings too. You're right

    One of these just popped up around the corner, seems like a great idea for an area with lots of apartments. Although i'm surprised they haven't gotten the council to mark out a dedicated EV parking spot for it. The few times i've walked past there's been ICE vehicles blindly parked in front of it.

    Thinking I dont really make use of two VM/Docker hosts so I rekon i'll take one of my Dell Optiplexes and move my Jellyfin server out of Docker and to bare metal. That way i'll be able to easily take advantage of Quick Sync for transcoding too.

    @WagesOf Yeah i've given it a half-arsed attempt but didnt really get anywhere. Thinking I might just go the easy route seeing as I have the hardware

    Smartspacer is a supercharged version of Google's At a Glance widget.

    Google's At a Glance widget can already do a lot of things like show you timer and stopwatch info, flashlight reminders, and more, but it has limited support for showing info from other apps. It can show the status from ridesharing apps like Uber, doorbell alerts from Nest, safety check countdowns from Personal Safety, fitness tracking info from Adidas Running and Strava ... but not much else.

    @MishaalRahman this looks awesome. I was disappointed that the A14 update to the At a Glance widget was real downgrade in turns of appearance. I'd love to give this a try

    If I want a cheap server with lots of RAM and a decent CPU what should I get? A used NUC maybe? RasPi probably not speccy enough

    @mattrobertson ex-corporate Dell or Lenovo Tiny from Ebay/OzBargain. I have 64GB in one of mine

    Looking to get my first ever 'good' camera and I really like the look of the Sony APSC Alphas. Wondering if the brand new a6700 is (for me) worth the thousand dollars more than the few years old a6400. I'll be taking family pics, hiking/bushwalking and some travel and i'm thinking that the improved autofocus and stabilisation would really come in handy.

    gurgle,
    @gurgle@aus.social avatar

    @Squidcopter that's a good way to think about it. Although I plan to hold onto the camera for at least 5 years, ideally closer to 10.

    Holy shit, I've searched for something like this in the past and finally someone has made it.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.trianguloy.urlchecker

    It acts as an intermediary when clicking or sharing links. So many apps append a bunch of spam and other unnecessary text when you use the Android share action, this allows you to easily strip it out. As well as truncating the URL to remove any tracking info. Also great to see it's free and open source 🙌
