I want to get back into photography but I'm not sure what are some good cameras these days. I used to have a cannon T5 and was considering getting a T7 because it's not super expensive but I am also curious about getting a mirrorless camera.
Any suggestions for hobbyist photography?

I primarily shoot food pictures for work, and various landscapes and such when traveling

@HeyItsRosie any idea on the budget? Do you want to go the full-frame route, or smaller sensors (like in that T7) work for you?
Full frame sensors have a potential for less noise and more dynamic range, but it's only a potential, and equivalent lenses are always bigger, heavier and more expensive.
I've had a few Canon and Nikon full-frame DSLRs, but traveling with a big camera and a big lens isn't fun, so I got a Panasonic microFourThirds camera and a few lenses and wasn't disappointed!

I love Django, it's admin interface is downright amazing, and a feature that keeps me using Django, but ohboy, adding actions to a change view should be significantly easier!

I don't know who gets to choose that unskippable part, advertisers or YouTube, but even if it's YouTube, advertisers should pay dearly for allowing that.

I've read somewhere on the 'net that infrared film dies quickly and dies an ugly death. So I shot a roll of Kodak HIE expired in 2006 and can confirm the saying! 😐

Kodak HIE developed in FX39II 1+14 at 19°C.
Nikon FE with Tamron Adaptall-2 24mm F2.5 lens, IR720nm filter.
Plustek OpticFilm 8100 + VueScan, and a lot of dodging and burning to get somewhat presentable results.

Just to give the reference, here are two completely unedited, raw frames. One I managed to edit into something usable, the other one left me with nothing to work on. Out of 16 photos, 12 can be edited into something recognizable (versions of photos from the previous two posts), the other four weren't as forgiving. That's analogue photography in a nutshell - it's never truly repeatable.

I got this roll from a friend who didn't even knew he had it, it was probably sitting in a camera bag for years. I have a few more rolls of HIE in the fridge, some from a different source, but I don't know which one is which, so it'll be fun! 😅

I've seen an Instagram photo person call their setup "very crappy" and then name only their "crappy" Nikon D3300 camera, conveniently forgetting to mention the Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens.
Okay, I get the idea behind calling the camera crappy, it definitely isn't the newest one, but calling the setup crappy and then forgetting to mention the lens that's definitely not crappy is kinda very dishonest.
But hey, it's fine if it's for likes and clout, I guess! 😑

@futurebird That's always a valid question!
Here's weird trivia about the Croatian language. For naming months, all Slavic languages use either Latin-based names (so, similar to English) or Slavic names, based on what's happening in nature and work.

Croatian is one of those that formally use Slavic names, EXCEPT in informal speech - we NEVER call months by their names! We'll always use the ordinal number of the month - e.g. "3rd month" or just short "3rd". 😅
And nobody knows why.

What's even funnier - Croatian is the only Slavic language that does that! I'm not sure if it's unique on a global scale, but on the Slavic it definitely is. 😅

I have been in a typography class for 3 months. It's more intense than I thought it would be (I thought it was going to be 'how to pick typefaces' but it's 'how to design typefaces).

I stuck with it because I am interested in learning something I don't know anything about. Today I got my grade: C+.

My perfectionist self says, 'why C+?'

My kinder, compassionate self (who is thrilled that I got to do something I never thought I would), says, "yay! you designed a typeface!!"
