Fairly momentous day for me today. Feeling pensive and quiet as a result.
Today, I intentionally let my nursing registration lapse. That is, I am now no longer a nurse.
It feels bittersweet. I was ready to let it lapse. I’d had enough. I’ve spent the last 7 years (and 3 years prior gaining my degree in nursing) working as an A&E Nurse (ER nurse to you yanks) and of course the last few years really haven’t been kind. (1/5)

Little voice at the back of my head is telling me I want to get VR for my sim racing/rallying. But can’t justify the cost without having even tried it 😫
It’s overrated, right? VR racing is overrated yes?
Look, I love tech and computer stuff as much as the next person. But does anyone else hate how car interiors are just becoming a wall of screens and touch screen buttons? I can’t even hop on to my favourite game for a quick 5 minutes without first needing updates/patches for drivers, software, launchers and the game itself these days- cars are just going to join this mentality, aren’t they? Not to mention that you won’t actually feel like you’re driving anymore.
@EighthLayer I'm amazed we've not seen more push back from safety rating agency's tbh.
I can change most things on my dashboard using buttons, levers, switches etc etc the second that we switch to hitting glass we lose so much context that we have to take our eyes off the road.
@danielholt Exactly. I hate trying to mess around with the A/C controls on a touchscreen as my windows are steaming up whilst driving. They say you should pull over, but sometimes there isn’t the opportunity to, especially where I live where most roads have 60/70mph speed limits.
@harrybo93 Granted I don’t use it all that often, but having previously paid for the app (£10 about 5/6 years ago), it doesn’t seem to lock me out of any features that I had before. Seems to have had a lick of paint as well so looks quite modern.
Seriously what is the obsession with AI and it being absolutely fucking everywhere? Like I know it’s a cool concept but can we just cool it a bit, jeez

Well, in The Gamer’s Tavern we’ve set up a club- and within that club we’re setting times across across real life stages and competing against each other and soon competing as a team. Catching up on my Mastodon feed doesn’t feel anywhere near as exhausting as catching up on any of my other social network feeds did (Twatbook, Twatter etc). It’s great. I can get to the end of my timeline and feel like I’ve actually come out of a meaningful engagement rather than like I’ve ran a marathon through misinformation, vitriol and rage.
Some people on my Timeline getting sucked into a tribe mentality over these wars.
Take a step back. There are human beings in this. Humans just like you and I are suffering and dying.
You are angry at the governments, on both sides. Do not group the innocent humans (INCLUDING CHILDREN I MIGHT ADD) on both sides under the same anger and hatred.
In light of the current ongoing events with wars all over the world kicking off, I’d like to share a blog post that I wrote. I’d appreciate it if you found the time to read it.
