I just tried GNOME (have been on KDE since 1.x) and love the overview and three-finger gestures there.

@jernej__s, ah, OK. In that case I’ll keep an eye on it for the laptop after this one, perhaps.

What I’m looking for is the main FS on my main computer.

I’ve made a silly bet when I put two HDDs in LVM RAID before and I’ve yet to fix that issue 😅

Regardless, I’ll read a bit more into BCacheFS, it does sound like Da Futar :D

@hook one more reason to like Slimbook is their good personal tech support (in my experience, anyway). My 3 year old Slimbook Base 14 suddenly quit, and it's out of warranty, but they did respond to a "now what?" mail with an extensive troubleshooting guide and disassembly video, so I'm in the process of repairing it myself.

@kdedude, that is great to hear. With the (inadvertently) complex engraving I asked them to do, they were very helpful.

Ultimately we settled for a little simpler design, due to technical limitations, but I was impressed by the responsiveness and helpfulness of their team.

I wonder if anyone made a (or other ) mouse or trackball with more (programable) buttons.

My current daily driver mouse is a Roccat Kone Pure, but am thinking about trying a trackball. I use a few macros that are stored in the mouse though.

Super excited for my new to arrive!

It will be a first new one in over a decade and a first non-ThinkPad since almost forever (not counting my employer-issued Dell).

It's a ProX 14 with a custom engraving. Thanks to @slimbook for being super patient and cooperative!

I have some pretty crazy plans with it and will turn it into a blog series … mostly so I remember what I did, when things likely go wrong :blobmelt:

@lapor, sem pa ravno probal ta novo osebno z aplikacijami eOsebna in Rekono OnePass pa v obeh dela tudi na /e/OS

Malo je sicer bila eOsebna trmasta z NFC med aktivacijo, ampak je eventuelno šlo.

I need some help with an odd situation that happend with milk in my kitchen. It was heated up to 75°C, then poured into glass flask and the lid was thightened (so no air got in). It was on a desk for around 20 hours, with around 20°C. The milk got thick, bit the taste is identical to milk. So, the texture is yogurt like, but the taste is milky. Any ideas what happened? It didn't get sour...

@luka, I am not the most qualified to answer, but I think some light pickling in brine, like sauerkraut or pickles is a simple start and you don't need to make it very sour.

@luka as for the books, I hope the others can help you better. I bought The Art of Fermentation and found it to be pretty good.

I recently bought The Noma Guide to Fermentation, and at a first glance (didn't read it yet), it looks even more in depth and offers suggested culinary uses.

(Note: if you buy a book of US authors, they seem to overly obsess with boiling the water, because theirs is typically full of Chlorine. You can skip that part.)
