Just received a blocking for saying killing children was bad. Apparently some people think killing children is okay depending on who is doing the killing and who is being killed.

Edited to remove a sentence that didn't make sense and i can't figure out what I was getting at. Thanks auto whatever which hallucinated the words i typed.

Yeah, why can't you all shut up about the genocide of Palestinians and just enjoy your bread and circuses... okay, well, the bread is too expensive for lots of people right too, so at least your circuses!

We're also going to throw this LGBTQ+ reference in here to make it seem like your choice is also a little homo- and transphobic.

@casseagull It's weird how Eurovision kicked out Russia for invading another country / committing war crimes.

I’m seeing this graphic making the rounds withouth attribution - many versions have the info at the bottom cut off. The creator is alienyrox2 on reddit (https://www.reddit.com/user/alienyrox2/).

@MichaelPorter You should always put your attribution in a place where it can't be cut off like this.

Also, your graphic in my app didn't show the attribution unless I opened the graphic. Maybe you are seeing a bit of that as well.

human3500,
@human3500@ottawa.place avatar

@MichaelPorter My app displays what looks like the entire image - it crops it beautifully.

human3500,
@human3500@ottawa.place avatar

@MichaelPorter The app is making the exact crop of the full image as the cropped image when it appears in my feed. So my feed consists of identical looking images - I have to expand them to see if the image is complete or cropped.

Things are looking good for the Northern lights. I've never wanted the sun to go down early before but hurry up darkness (my old friend).

Edit. This only makes sense if I fill in some details. If KP (whatever that is) is high, aurora is more likely. The number on the bottom right is cloud cover.

Combined, the clouds will dissipate and the magnetic clouds will increase. A good combo! Unless it gets too high I guess. Then it's bad. Charge your phone.

@dairpo Dunno. It's there now if it's dark enough. 9 seems like the max so it should be amazing. I've heard to look through your camera but nothing for me yet. Lots of light pollution to ruin things too.

What an absolute shitstain and lifelong taint on the CBC that platformed the vicious, racist, fascist, shithead that was .

human3500,
@human3500@ottawa.place avatar

@Auxonic Was he always such a horrible person? I can't see the CBC keeping such a terrible excuse for a person on staff for any length of time. No doubt he'd roll his eyes at every indigenous story (or any story requiring empathy) so I can't see the CBC and him getting along.

Then again, maybe the CBC was run by white men that thought silently to themselves "he's saying out loud what the rest of us are thinking" every time he opened his mouth.

Is it normally pushing 50C on the Mexican gulf coast in May? Seems pretty hot.

There are a few days where it looks like all of Texas breaks 100F too.

Well update on the government side of the job hunt… did a horrid 3-hr exam on Monday in which the person who wrote the job description did not talk to the person who wrote the exam. So that was a fucking amazing stressful waste of time (probably).

Next Monday I get another 2-day exam at 8;30AM and… a 2-hr exam at 9 AM from a difference department the same day. So will get the 2-hr exam out of the way and do the 2-day exam after 😩

Most people will look at this graph of the COVID poo levels and think that we have it in the rear view mirror like they want.

But, those of us that look closely will see that sharp increase in the last day or two. While still low levels, the bump hints that the new variants are probably here.

@jacobjkrich this is from @jeffgilchrist great website. I think he uses the raw data from GitHub so it's still being collected and posted. I don't have Jeff's URL on my phone. I'll post it later if he doesn't chime in or is not on his profile. I love his presentation.

Jeff is our final hope for the six of us that still believe the pandemic hasn't stopped.

    @tomgatzgates @grivettcarnac Wellington was closed for a year. The biggest complaint seemed to be from councillors who complained that people driving across Ottawa drove through Gatineau instead.

    I fail to see how this was bad for Ottawa. Those drivers didn't stop and shop in Gatineau (they never do) and all the wear and tear on roads was out of province. The city of Gatineau didn't complain.

    These morons wanted a traffic jam in front of parliament Hill so they opened the road back up to create it.

    I'll never understand this.
