Just talking with my wife who was canvassed earlier by a local election candidate. They can't call into houses flying the national flag due to fear of assault. All this far right galvanisation is due to decades of neoliberal governments turning a blind eye to everything but the growth of business. Now we have angry electorates getting their information from algorithms which are created by exactly those businesses beloved of those neoliberal governments
@ronanmcd It took 46 years to get a bus stop where my parents live. They get 100% of the traffic from the new North Runway every 2 minutes. Internet is 6mb when it works, their road is a motorway sliproad now and tent city is now their problem. The place is a dumping ground and infrastructure is scabby at best.

The realist, centrist, fence sitting adults in the room who have been in charge for decades have brought us austerity inevitably followed by divisive nationalism, an increased far right, and climate on the brink. It's their lack of foresight, and worship of economic growth that has pushed my vote away from the centre.
