Simplest physics: it takes energy to evaporate water (phase change) and that drops temp and raises humidity.

But a desktop EVAP cooler is a joke, it’s too small (not enough water evaporated) to affect the temperature of even a small room.

Swamp coolers (evaporative coolers) work great under specific conditions, such as deserts where it’s hot AND dry (lots of ability to evaporate)

The article got Moore’s Law wrong. It states that areal density doubles about every 18 months (as I remember it) which tl;dr approximates “more compute power” indirectly. Also it’s not true any more but again that’s no big deal.

It also just tastes terrible. Tastes like soapy metallic something to me. Americans, especially, are overwhelmed with food related marketing of harmful quantities, of harmful stuff. Harmful like 16 oz sodas with 30 grams of sugar. Who drinks that shit? Everything's giant!

Fats, sugar, salt aren't harmful. Massive amounts of them can be.
