it's the vernal equinox and i had set a goal for myself to get my first ep out into the world today. i met that goal.

wb1 contains four woozy beats, the result of about half a year of really figuring out how to turn all of the noises i make into something roughly song-shaped.

It is VERY HARD to choose but if you will hold a gun to my head I will say this is my favorite on that album. It's a one-shot thesis indictment of alleged Christians seeking power to inflict their arbitrary rules on the unwilling, trying to become the same legalistic secular authorities they once suffered under.

That's not what it's supposed to be about.

I highly doubt this song will ever get the full band re-record treatment as it is over fifteen minutes long.

From my Voidtouched solo release, this is a song about my interpersonal horrors. I know I’m far from easy to love, work with, or even acknowledge and this work makes no allusions to anything otherwise.

A brutal song from a brutal release, this is “Apathy.”

I try so hard to communicate WRT to nuance and multiple possible meanings well because I think anything else is just posturing and denying how language and communication works.

Conversely I get very frustrated when people snap to respond to me, when they are clearly not doing that. Taking something at surface level that any reflection would show isn't the intended meaning.

Finally I realize the last point goes with the first and ...

I need to not take things personally even though everything is personal.

To sum it up we have to be comfortable with holding competing even contradictory notions in our head at the same time on our way to deeper understandings. or not.

JBK / JBK & history lesson 1 / ???

There have been four core writing cycles, each of which containing some number of originals as well as remixes and / or community reimaginings of those songs.

Fidelity
Blood and Blackouts
Voidtouched
Salvation

There have also been two minor writing cycles that were not metal focused that were a bit more weird in nature.

I’m biased of course, but even I won’t listen to the same handful of songs by Yours Truly over and over again if they suck.

Our prior lineup was very good at what we did.

Our current lineup takes that, sets it on fire, and adds a ferocity that I would have never dreamed of.

No way back, just through. And that’s okay.

I absolutely cannot wait to share what we jumped into.

We as humans are all riding on one ship in space. A literal spaceship. We did not design or build this ship. For the most part we do not understand how it works.

We understand parts of it. Like we can do a brake job, but we don't know how the carburetor works.

White western men, and other people in the "have a lot of money" group pretend they know how the machine works. We let them.

We let them by the more fundamental notion, that we don't stop them.

By the time it’s over once Damnation drops, the Salvation writing cycle will have lasted close to a year and spanned five distinct artifacts: Unspeakable, Death Cult, Salvation, Dolorosa, and Damnation.

Damnation is intended to put a bow on everything and will be the no holds barred band and community remix body of songs from anything else in the cycle.

We’ve called in the big guns and have a few surprises in store as well.

Just wait.

I’ve got much cheaper hobbies than making aggressive, top-shelf, groove full of meaning.

However I would not rather be doing anything else with my time on this earth.
