jettrscga,

I donโ€™t think bulbs use a whole lot of energy these days. A 10W LED bulb would cost $14 per year to run constantly (US pricing). An old 60W bulb would be $83 per year in comparison.

But thereโ€™s probably no reasoning with someone who decorated that room.

Math:

LED bulb power = 10W

Electricity cost in US = $0.161 per kWh

Running 1 bulb 24 hrs a day = 0.24kWh

Price per day = $0.038

Price per year = $14, running 1 bulb constantly

jettrscga,

Does that mean Jesus had a hotter summer?

Thereโ€™s a movie in here somewhere.

jettrscga,

Wow thatโ€™s true. Renting is someone letting you borrow their debt because you canโ€™t afford your own debt.

jettrscga,

You can very easily get a gun without a background check. Used guns are often sold without a background check.

jettrscga,

Thatโ€™s also a legal issue with autonomous cars.

Autonomous cars can also get into basically the trolley problem. If an accident is unavoidable, but the car can swerve and kill its own passenger to avoid killing more people in a larger wreck, should it? And would that end up as more liability for whoever takes the blame?

jettrscga,

They donโ€™t like immigrants and US citizens are starting to demand higher wages.

Gotta find new workers to exploit to keep wages low.

jettrscga,

Yeah it actually looked worse in person than I expected.

It looks like how a caveman would draw a car after only seeing them on a Playstation 1.

jettrscga,

Not to brag, but my mom let me have her old palm pilot from work.

Guess I was pretty cool when I peaked 20 years ago.

jettrscga,

Good. Iโ€™m all for the right to protest, and also all for the slander suit if your protesting is based on bullshit claims.

jettrscga,

Oh god flashbacks to the Overcooked ice level while drinking.

So many chefs died that day.

jettrscga,

I get that theyโ€™re successful, and itโ€™d be fantastic if this became the trend. But Battlefield and Call of Duty sell consistently with much less development effort and a lot lower risk of flopping.

It looks like Call of Duty is typically 3 year development cycles, and one took only 1.5 years. Baldurโ€™s Gate took 6 years.

jettrscga,

And theyโ€™ll also take an insane amount of local water supplies to fight nature and make a profit.

jettrscga,

Honestly Iโ€™m more disappointed that this isnโ€™t the first time on Lemmy that Iโ€™ve seen someone delete a post and then try to make a big scene about how they didnโ€™t like the responses they got and were giving up on a community.

Lemmy has so little content that your complaint post gets to be top of a community for a while, so thatโ€™s nice.

Youโ€™re not the main character, people are entitled to opinions, and you donโ€™t have to care or take them personally. Itโ€™s the internet, there will always be someone who complains even if itโ€™s entirely unwarranted.

jettrscga,

Boeing and Airbus are the only large passenger aircraft manufacturers that Iโ€™m aware of.

Donโ€™t get me wrong, Boeingโ€™s doing awful lately. But even on a good day the odds are high itโ€™s Boeing, and even higher when news outlets know people want to hear about every fail from Boeing suddenly.

jettrscga,

Great question, Iโ€™m curious too. I definitely donโ€™t want to give Boeing to benefit of the doubt. Just wanted to give perspective that there arenโ€™t a lot of aircraft manufacturer options.

jettrscga,

This is one of my worries with a growing wealth disparity in the world.

The average person is starting to get priced out of any luxury entertainment because there are wealthy people with unreasonable amounts of money to throw at whatever they feel like.

There will always be rich people who can pay whatever price a company asks for.

jettrscga,

In the case of this comic, they were the same.

jettrscga,

You canโ€™t compete with a twice baked bitch.

jettrscga,

Oooh. Thanks for that, makes more sense now.

jettrscga,

To me getting a Friday off feels like getting two Saturdays. Monday off feels like getting two Sundays.

I prefer Fridays off since it feels like the weekend is ramping up for 2 days instead of winding down for 2.

The mind is a weird thing - both scenarios are basically the same.

jettrscga,

Heโ€™d have to work 3.7 million years of 40 hour work weeks at US minimum wage, $7.25.

Pretty well highlights the insanity of $56 billion.
