@jwz I suspect this will effectively come to nothing. If you're sufficiently rich, you can near-trivially disguise direct ownership of nearly anything anyway, so the practical import of this regulation (really, the practical import of people trivially tracking jets) is just that the ownership will become less direct.

@jwz Once the data started getting published, they'd probably have to get new jets to break the methodology. But even after ownership per se becomes opaque, it seems like a relatively rudimentary data-analysis technique to look at known movements and narrow down the candidate planes.

I have run my own mailserver since the mid-90s and I am still backing the kickstarter from @mwl for his book on how to do it. I detest how hard and how rare it is for people to do this stuff themselves and I hope the book encourages more crazy/masochistic fuckers to do it. Also I bet I'll learn something!

At Burning Man in 2000 (corrected), some friends built a giant goat. Stairs at the rear led up to the Anus of Truth, where you could ask an Oracle (one or two people sitting inside) for advice.

I was inside with another person when someone stepped up and asked the Oracle about a series of boyfriends who had all left her.
