joenforcer,

Might want to zoom in a little bit there.

joenforcer,

I guarantee you I wouldn’t have solar panels on my house right now with the IRA. This is the truth.

joenforcer,

Not just unlikely. Nigh impossible.

Mitt isn’t just retiring because he’s old. He’s also unelectable. The party has moved so far right that his decision to stand up against Trump makes it impossible to win a primary.

Those who are cheering Romney’s retirement… the monkey’s paw curls.

joenforcer,

He is. He’s one of the most successful phone tech YouTubers. They do this because it’s what gets clicks. Doesn’t matter if you like it or hate it.

joenforcer,

I sort by hot and there’s no comment activity. I sort by active and it’s the same posts for the entire day. Maybe you see improvement, but I see mostly a bunch of people yelling into the wind and a few groups huddled in the few interesting topics like this one, which is ironically bitching about reddit.

joenforcer,

Replace “reddit” with any free service. Welcome to the Internet.

And before you “ackshually Lemmy” me, someone is paying for it. Perhaps even you, if you’ve donated to your home instance.

joenforcer,

This. The whole circlejerk about how much better Lemmy is and how people are so glad they left reddit is getting really old, really fast. Meanwhile, any interesting post that would be normally spur fervent and meaningful discussion on reddit has maybe a dozen comments on Lemmy, most of them low effort. Heck, this exact same article on reddit’s r/technology has 10x more comments and way more total engagement.

The spam and toxicity here are the same as on reddit with a different tone. Lemmy is just another echo chamber with a different coat of paint, and the only differences are a lack of ads and way less people and diversity to interact with.

joenforcer,

The former moved to “workreform”, at least on Reddit. The latter group are the dog walkers that stayed put.

joenforcer,

I haven’t updated the Twitter app on my Android since the icon change, and I refuse to let it update. Still works fine.

joenforcer,

Yeah, this is what my wife was doing. I’m also doing the reverse: AMD CPU, NVidia GPU. I considered AMD but went NVidia mostly for the PPW on an undervolted 4070. It results in a cool, quiet, low-wattage machine that can handle anything that matters to me, which AMD GPUs still can’t match this gen even with the upcoming 7800XT they’re trying to compare against the 4070. I’d wait for some PPW analysis before making a choice depending on your needs. There’s way more to the analysis than GPU source code or even raw performance that is often overlooked.

Oh,and don’t sleep on AMD. Though I don’t feel like the AM5 platform is fully baked, Ryzen architecture is rock-solid and I fully recommend using it if your history with Athlon is what’s keeping you away. I actively avoided them for the same reason until a friend convinced me otherwise, and I’m so glad I did.

joenforcer,

Can’t speak to that, unfortunately. But I assume there would be no issues. The devices themselves are system agnostic; Windows isn’t doing anything special to make them play nice with each other.

joenforcer,

Did we watch the same debate? Ramaswamy said “climate change is a hoax” and the crowd erupted in boos and jeers.

I think the climate change reality is a shared belief now. The disagreement between parties is in how we handle it. Ramaswamy is nutty and is clinging to the hardest right talking points.

joenforcer,

Sorta. My old MFP Brother apparently has a firmware update available that makes it aware of the toner brand and I just ignore it. It’s not as bad as HP where a low level of ink turns the machine into a brick.

joenforcer,

It sounds like you don’t have much experience in a white collar workplace.

2 and 3 are pretty standard rumor control parameters. And it is true, no workplace is in the business of solving interpersonal conflict, but what he’s speaking to is just lower-level things amounting to just not liking someone, not real problems like abuse or harassment.

joenforcer,

This is some high school humor and if you watch any of the videos where James and/or Riley get to play off of each other, it gets really cringe really fast. It probably seemed innocuous enough when they were smaller but it sounds like James is too comfortable with his buddy Linus and has the same lack of awareness to take things seriously.

joenforcer,

That was a joke. Linus not really liking dbrand but not being able to turn down the sponsorship money is basically an LTT meme at this point. Yvonne was really poking fun at Linus since they basically use every sponsorship opportunity to mess with him.

Will Corpos try to force all computing on the to cloud and make privately owned local storage illegal?

Seems like the next logical step. Most big games are always-online Games as a Service where your local storage is useless if the company server doesn’t handshake. A lot of business and productivity software already requires subscriptions and is partially online. Every single fucking company wants to have an app on your phone...

joenforcer,

Back when tapes, CDs, MiniDiscs, all the old generations of data storage that you could write to at home were first circulating the media industries tried real, real hard to make them illegal to privately own.

Source?

I have no idea if blu-rays or DVDs are still printed for sale.

Is this a serious take? It’s a 5-second search on Google or any large store.

joenforcer,

Fake post. You can tell because no self-respecting conservative would wear anything but 100% Southern-grown domestic cotton. Look at any reviews for polyester underwear to learn more… it won’t take long.

joenforcer,

Read that last paragraph. Osteopathic medicine is a distinct, real discipline and not quackery.

joenforcer,

DO is not pseudoscience. Osteopathic medicine is a real discipline and is distinct from Osteopathy which is quackery.

joenforcer,

False. Osteopathic medicine is a real medical degree. Osteopathy is distinct and is not.
