Now I watched #TheDevilsChord and... well that was an hour of television. In some respect that worked better than #SpaceBabies, in others it... didn't, at least for me. Gatwa brings a lot to #DoctorWho and there's enough mystery around Ruby to keep me watching. But let's just say that I'm really glad the next episode is written by #StevenMoffat.

@mrsjmccrimmon Space Babies = great themes but somehow actors are not clicking for me (and the babies are too silly)
Devil's Chord = confused themes and plotting but the actors clicked and created great tension.

This new era is rather uneven in its beginning... BUT: if you watch Boom you might feel this is it. Moffat has written some FANTASTIC lines for Gatwa and Gibson, and both themes and actors are good to great in it. It's the first "classic" of this era.

@mekkaokereke That's the thing: if White liberal America wants to keep a liberal America it needs to talk to White non-liberal America (their friends, families, co-workers etc) and convince them not to vote for Trump. Focusing on (and blaming) Black people is just absurd.

I'm not lecturing anyone and frankly I don't care as I'm not living in the US. I find it just absurd that White liberal America is positioning itself to blame Black America for Trump, totally ignoring that White America will, with a strong majority, vote the fascist in big time.

We've seen four episodes now of the "new new" #DoctorWho and RTD's take/vision of this era and I have to say, with the exception of #Boom, I remain very much on the fence. It's too "magical" for my liking, it doesn't do a lot of sci-fi stuff or concepts. And it has the usual silliness dialed to 11 (or 12), all amplified by RTD's sledgehammer writing style. It's somewhat ok and at times interesting, even charming, but overall I still don't know if it's for me. Which is fine.

@peteriskrisjanis If it still allows more sci-fi heavy episodes like Boom, I'm alright with it. And I do hope that we get more writer diversity, RTD's style is just a bit much for me (I'm dreading the finale already, which will probably suck for me).

RTD often does that: creates tensions and obstacles to create character drama and interaction, and that's what interests him. And once that's done he just winks away the obstacles somehow because the episode needs to end.

I truly wish that Moffat would've written one episode for Jodie Whittaker as , where she could've played to her strengths. Man, this might've made all the difference.

Just was reminded about this little fact that Steven Moffat has written stories for more Doctors than any other writer in #DoctorWho history. And it's not a stretch to argue that he gave everyone of them their best episode as well.

Why I enjoyed Ncuti Gatwa's portrayal of #DoctorWho almost from the start, it was #Boom that really "clicked" him into character for me. Brilliant lines (by Steven Moffat) and fantastic line delivery, love this man.

This is a greally great and insightful interview with about under RTD. The show is planned and shot a year head. We will never face the same situation with Chibnall again any time soon. So good news!

@peteriskrisjanis While shooting the finale, the production team apparently did not know if DW will continue. The whole show was hanging on a knife's edge for a couple of months.

@mrdalesmith Moff vibes: Ruby as an amalgam of Rose with Amy and Clara; the "magical" elements in the stories so far; the emphasis on children stories in the last episode; the realization that the monster isn't really a monster; etc. He's really taking a lot of pages out of Moffat's playbook. He seems to adore the man and his writing.
