    Interesting! That looks like it might be a bit more sophisticated than our one maybe? I'll have to have a play!

    The one we're using was written as a python script by @yonder and I turned it into a (free) web app here: https://image2midi.key13.uk - it's open source so anyone can play with the code to augment it further.

    It produces MIDI so you have to import the file into a DAW and add instruments of your choice.

    Having looked a bit deeper there's a clear difference between these - VOSIS is more about sound design, drones and textures - it is essentially an instrument to be played in real time.

    "Image2midi" produces a music score which then needs to be arranged, it doesn't output any audio sound.

    But both do this based on pictures.

    I wonder if there's any way to combine the two - it doesn't look like VOSIS has a VST/AU plugin sadly.

    Since recently I dissolved my part of the company I've been involved in for the last nine years, I no longer am in control of the server I used to host Funkwhale, etc.

    In a way, this is a good thing, as it encourages me to downsize everything in my life. My music will be residing on another server with less space, though wholly controlled by me. My Funkwhale no longer exists apart from its archive.

    I used it as a platform to demonstrate my experiments, improvisations and unfinished music. 1/2

    Another option is to run two separate Faircamp sites, with links between the two in the catalog content text block.

    The second site could either be in a subfolder of the main site, or on a subdomain.

    Dug out my old Casiotone VL-1 (VL-TONE) this morning. I bought this new, so it's.. quite old - must be well over 40 years old?

    Amazingly it still works. I had forgotten it actually has an ADSR mode where you can "design*" the sound!!

    @SabiLewSounds @axwax @venya @SrRochardBunson @luka @teklynk @radiofreefedi it's ideal for Faircamp because of the way that Faircamp pages are structured.

    But, as the FAQ on the site says, if someone has a non Faircamp site that can display the prev/next links in a similar way, there's no technical reason why we couldn't add it to the ring.

    To clarify some of the comments above: you need to have your site added to the ring as well as add the links, just adding the links isn't enough.

    Current situation: there is a mouse in our house, presumably brought in by the cat.

    There is a humane mouse trap set up with some cheese in it.

    The cat, who is obsessed with cheese, is currently trying to get the cheese out of the mouse trap.

    The mouse is nowhere to be seen.

    Well, I managed a song-a-week entry this week, although I threw it together in a bit of a hurry yesterday and just neatened it up today, so it's not the best.

    This one might be #BonkWave -adjacent?

    For no particularly good reason it's in a weird time signature (15/4) and an even weirder scale (dorian-flat-2). Maybe the time signature is from a brief conversation with @axwax about doing 4-on-the-floor in odd times? Who knows :)

    I didn't manage a song-a-week track this week, for various reasons. But here's one I prepared earlier - nearly 2 years ago, in fact - that I don't really know what to do with. If anyone fancies remixing it let me know :)

    I am having problem updating Faircamp from 0.10.1 to 0.11.0

    When I run brew upgrade faircamp I end up here.

    I tried removing the file, but still same.

    I am on a MacOS 11.4 system if that makes a difference.

    @freebliss @meljoann I just recommended TextMate to another Faircamp Mac user.. of course I tend to use vi or VS Code but probably neither are especially helpful in these cases!
