Holy crap, originalucifer, I understood that reference. Muldaur’s character Roz Shays was killed off in LA Law that way…by inadvertently walking into an empty elevator shaft! The character was prickly and not well-liked, but it was shocking AF because it was in the middle of a scene and came out of nowhere. Shit, I haven’t thought about that for a while.

the song will abruptly stop playing at about the 1 quarter mark (only skipping the song or restarting will fix)

You aren’t the only one to report halted playback in Navidrome. It appears to be a known open issue that goes back a few years.

One user in particular suggested last fall that the source of the bug may not be Navidrome’s fault. Are you using a reverse proxy?

For those that are still struggling with this issue, I can confirm that (in my case) the problem was related to the HTTP/3 QUIC protocol (not a Navidrome issue). As suggested by a few others in this thread, the issue can be addressed by ensuring that your reverse proxy supports and is configured for HTTP/3 QUIC, or by turning off the QUIC protocol on the client side (browser configuration), or by disabling HTTP/3 (with QUIC) feature on Cloudflare.

I don’t think Tailscale counts as a reverse proxy, but it does support HTTP/3 and QUIC so that suggestion may not apply here. Still, it might be worth double-checking to see if they are disabled. Also, have you tried disabling Tailscale altogether and connecting directly?

Dunno if serious, but there actually is a fanny pack with this design! You can find it on AliExpress, search for “Kurt Geiger fanny pack”. It looks like at least three different vendors stock it right now. Happy hunting!

Ah, a fellow player? So you know this year’s celebration event actually started six days after First Contact Day, on April 11. They did this last year too. I actually haven’t played in several months, it’s so micro-transaction-y and keeps getting worse.

I posted this here a couple of months ago: Old Henry (2021). It’s one of the best slow-burn character dramas to come out recently, in my opinion. I would steer clear of any synopsis of this movie, go in blind and enjoy the story.

Yeah, it’s bizarre they even focused on TOS when Janeway is the obvious choice. It’s still cool, but it feels like a missed opportunity.

Wow, that’s crazy awesome. Good for her!

The Web Almanac Accessibility Chapter 2022 (almanac.httparchive.org)

The Web Almanac provided a chapter in their 2022 edition on web accessibility. They are going to update it for 2024 soon. This can be a helpful resource to teach people about web accessibility and common different accessibility features. Hopefully, features like audio description and alt text will be found to be more common in...

This is an excellent resource. I think it’s written really well. I imagine they’d include the new WCAG 2.2 requirements (that dropped last fall) in their 2024 update, but what I’d like to see is instructional content that demonstrates how to test for keyboard and screen reader accessibility. All these accessibility techniques for WCAG compliance are suggested so that keyboard-only and screen reader users can understand the same content and perform the same tasks as sighted users (easily and with minimal confusion), but you can’t know for sure if your implementation works as intended if you don’t test it.

It’s certainly a nice idea for a community, but there’s already content in there that can be used to spread/reinforce climate change denial.

For example, this chart showing the decline of air pollution deaths: reddthat.com/post/16771065. That’s exactly the kind of thing that right wingers point to and scream “See? Fewer people are dying, the planet is fine!” Again, the intent is admirable, but this kind of content is ripe for repackaging as anti-climate propaganda. It’s going to do more harm than good if you collect that kind of messaging all in one place like this.

No, it was a gag, in honor of First Contact Day. However, they are both are kind of a hot mess in their own way, so it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to me.

Hey, I saw the other post you made. Sorry I missed this. I’m stoked you finally have a lead, so congrats and good luck with the referral!! And it sounds like the patient advocate did you a solid, so good on them!

Side note: what’s up with the toxicity here? Jeepers, has the Casual Conversation community always been like this?

Hahah, this is a spoof of that car commercial, isn’t it? Nice
