Sometimes debugging 100 lines of complex code almost all day long leads you to the real fix - an assumption made in another 5 line piece of code which is no longer true.

Liberal use of asserts can help, but in this case this wasn't easy so I didn't have one, but I should have put in the effort to save future me time.

Having said that, I don't think I expected that assumption to break when I wrote the code.

Remember that this currently has the two UIs overlaid (SwiftUI + Godot) to help me during development to make sure I am not missing anything.

But I am marching towards keeping just the Canvas and the SwiftUI shell:

I wonder if anybody tried to use FXAA before doing display mapping BUT by still applying and reverting a curve ? 🤔

Aka:
1 - Switch from HDR to SDR
2 - Apply FXAA
3 - Switch back from SDR to HDR
4 - Apply regular post-process stuff

is a powerful beast! Aliens & player done by blitter, parallax background layers with streaming tileplanes, and bullets & sparks done with sprites.

Almost runs at 60fps, but drops during hectic stuff, so will be a VERY solid 30fps even with extra fripperies.

(and yes, all the graphics are ahem borrowed placeholder right now - will be replaced in due course)
