How many authors have their contributions in product source code? How many have had their previous work completely removed. Over time.

The first release with code present authored by 200 persons was done in 2015-04-22. In that release, we had already removed all traces of contributions from 20 authors.

In the latest release, 604 authors' code is still present. 171 authors' work have been replaced.

@arch I have two things to say here:

  1. From what I've heard, without being deeper involved with this, there was significant advancement on nvidia support in the last few months, so it might be worth another try. However, I don't know what exactly "recent" is for you and what your issue was, so this point may be useless.

  2. You might also try i3 then, It's pretty much the same but for X and transitioning to sway should be pretty smoth, as they use the same config file format.

what git jargon do you find confusing? thinking of writing a blog post that explains some of git's weirder terminology: "detached HEAD state”, "fast-forward", "index/staging area/staged", “ahead of 'origin/main' by 1 commit”, etc

(really only looking for terms that you personally find confusing, not terms that you think someone else might be confused about)

The hosted backup solution is very reasonably priced. I self-host backups for SourceHut and pay for hosted backups for my workstation et al.

Today I finally got around to read „Ada & Zangemann“, the illustrated book by the @fsfe to promote the Idea of FOSS towards children. While I already roughly knew what the book was about, reading it was still unexpectedly very heart-warming for me! So if you can spare ~30mins, it's really a good read, even if you are older. An awesome book @kirschner and Sandra Brandstätter managed to create ❤️

Promoting can mean anything between putting their Logo somewhere and an active endorsement as in the mentioned toot. However, I think none of this is Ok, at leas not without thorough prior discussiun within the community.

@nixos_org I am not going to attend this year, and suddenly I don't feel bad about it anymore. NixCon being sponsored by a company that makes killer drones and software for the US military (or any military at all) is not acceptable. I encourage everyone in the /​ community, esspeccially those attending NixCon, to protest against this within their means. After all, it would be a real shame if every occurance of their Logo in arm's reach would be covered with Stickers.

Found someone's keys. Identified them via the license key for DJ software on a memory stick. Contacted via an anonymous Instagram account at 1am. Handed back the keys at 2am.

I demand that Linux remains exactly the same forever and all volunteer labor to maintain it goes into maintaining legacy software rather than making any new innovations. No, I am not volunteering any of MY labor for that purpose, but thanks for asking.
