My local bike shop guy heard about my quixotic quest to adapt a 40 spoke Sturmey Archer hub to a 36 spoke rim with machined adapter plates, and give me another hub to play with.

It looked nice on the outside, but it did not make the expected ratcheting sound that a freewheeling hub should make when spun. It also did not work correctly.

I thought maybe it would just be full of gummed up grease inside so I poured a bunch of paint thinner in there and let it sit, but that did not fix it, so I disassembled it and found it to be extremely crusty, rusty, and gunky inside.

I'm going to try to make it work again, even though this hub still won't work on my bike because it's drilled for 28 spokes lol. It just seems fun to see if I can clean it up and fix it.

Who really needs a bike with this many speeds? By the time you add a front derailleur, that's 24 or 36 speeds! Dumb!

"Destroying anarchism" by arguing with me is akin to an alt-righter "destroying feminism" by arguing with kids.

I'm not super big on theory, I have not prepared for every question you might have and I most likely, under any circumstance, wouldn't be the sole person upon whom the responsibility of birthing a new society rests upon.

I just think that there are ways for society to function with more direct democracy and horizontalism as opposed to representative democracy and strict hierarchy.

Apparently, there's a recent research paper from France that places guidelines on screen time and social media usage of kids and teens.

There were quite a few things the paper suggests, but a positive thing mentioned was how "15 year-olds should only have access to more-ethical social media, such as mastodon"

I'm low-key excited that a paper that was requested for by French leadership actually says Mastodon (and by extension fedi) is safe and decent!

Finnish Interior Minister, Mari Rantanen (PS), is suggesting we'd have "welfare-detectives"

Her reasoning?

The welfare system's own statistics say there's very little fraud/misallocation among those receiving benefits, so the system itself "has to be faulty."

In essence, she wants the state to send authorities to spy on the poor (kinda like how insurance companies do) just for the sake of them being poor.

Bought 2kg of tofu today :3

Made me some spicy tofu

The closest actual dish to it would be mapo-tofu, but I'm not sure if the tofu purists in the room would agree!

Red onion, red pepper and cubed tofu

I made an oily sauce using doubanjiang (hot red bean paste), crushed garlic, ginger (powder, as I forgot to buy fresh), Korean chili flakes, MSG, Chinese Light Soy Sauce, Chinese Dark Soy Sauce and Thai Mushroom Soy sauce.

Topped it off with toasted sesame seeds and toasted sesame seed oil. :3

The last election, they kept going on about the accumulated debt of Marin's gov and people ate it up.

Libertarians and "Anarcho-Capitalists" are the exact same thing.

The only difference is an edgy coat of paint on the latter.

Also the prefix "anarcho" really doesn't fit, as what AnCaps want is strictly hierarchical... Essentially wealthy warlords who have their own "consensual" slaves and personal militias.

There's nothing "anarcho" about these pricks.
