IMO, the biggest hurdles of the Activision Blizzard acquisition are yet to come: how do you fix several huge toxic, angry communities and a string of IPs that are not in a good place.
Blizzard, in particular, is in real trouble with World of Warcraft, Overwatch and Diablo. It really does feel like the spell over WoW's userbase has been broken, and we've passed an inflection point.
€100 is a whole chunk of money to spend if you want to play Starfield on Steam tonight 😅 Even if it were a 10/10 out the gate, that's a bit too much for me
We're enough years in to it now for me to be pretty sure SwiftUI is not the way forward for my apps, on Apple's existing platforms. It's just not how I want to write code. I remain open to it being potentially great for building new kinds of apps on Apple's headset, but I’m not holding my breath (nor perhaps do I need to write new kinds of apps if the old kinds are best). I hope there always remains a bigger, more-powerful alternative under the hood that I can drop down to to build better apps
@stroughtonsmith I wonder if there are any recent modern frameworks that are succeeding better than Apple. Microsoft’s struggling as well with WinUI/Fluent Design System. GTK4/Libadwaita seems like it is steadily growing.
@caseynewton To be fair, that is a macOS Ventura bug. I’ve seen it happen to random apps, even optimized native apps. Reboot is the only workaround atm. Hopefully they fix this in the next major macOS update this fall.🤞
