#OFFDEM will take place next to #FOSDEM next year.
A small group of folks are gathering to organize a nice cosy family event again. Thanks to @how and @natacha and their teams for organizing the last ediitons.
Orga is slowly forming and it is an early stage announcement. So, if you want to join for orga, we will start soonish :)
WTF
" Nordwestbahn in Bremen immer unpünktlicher "
Verdammt.
Looking at the #OpenCV 5 crowdfunder I am a bit sad.
I seriously do get that many cannot afford chipping in for important libraries. I do get that not everyone has 100 USD+ to spare and we are not big tech usually
Having seen demands of clear milestones and deliverables in the comments, I am a bit flabbergasted.
OpenCV did deliver. They delivered for a long time. They expanded into OpenCV University et al to acquire more funds
Do you know of a #OpenCV#community be it local or global, English, German or any other language? Kids doing great projects or adults dabbling into it for their weekend projects?
We would love to hear from you :)
There is an attempt to build a directory and help those communities gain visibility. After all the community is where the library is used and who needs what is great about OpenCV and where OpenCV lacks.
Like all open source it is a long trip and not a short sprint. So join us!
"Hello, everyone! We are working on creating content and bringing visibility to the OpenCV 5 crowdfunding campaign! This weekend, we will have a talk with Alessandro de Oliveira Faria, a Brazillian Computer Vision Engineer who has contributed to OpenCV. We want to bring his history and inspire the Brazilian community to join us in this campaign."
Thanks for organizing this Natalia et al!
I will never give a group a point in a Hackathon that deals with disasters and talks in their pitch about a "product" that you can buy and potential many costumers.
Fuck you.
Here: Forest fires.
You lost all respect from me when you consider stuff that you build for disaster as a product and not a service. Terminology matters.
You just gave the impression that you would not support poor countries w/o subscription. In a fucking disaster. You allied with Disaster for money. Money over people.
@aral
Fun side fact:
one of the biggest issues we faced was lake depth estimation.
Must shit I found was esa work.
A base project. I looked for formulars etc, a dataset whatever.
It seems they built a service out of it. pay per use.
Thanks but no thanks.
Another nice one at the hackathon was: we all only used free data. And no, we did not do much with it. (24hrs timeframe)
Why does anyone expect that this is then worth millions?
Others get 15 EUR per hour, so why now millions?
I am currently reading some papers regarding routing and am wondering about social dynamics.
I remember openbeacon and sociopatterns.org comes up from @FoolsDelight et al.
I am wondering do we have datasets of real events with 1000+ participants of proximity and timeseries data?
Preferable 2.4 GHz, BLE, and other.
Happy to have some infra in between. (sputnik did iirc)
I am curious to how routing protocols would adapt and would love to have a decent base for simulations.
