some days you think burnout is pretty much fully in your rear view mirror, and some days you're just chatting about something work related and it unexpectedly hits you in the feels like a ton of bricks and you realise the burnout was never really gone.
if I can offer one piece of advice, it's to avoid burnout at all costs. if you even suspect you might be headed that way, take action now, before it gets bad. seven years down the line and I'm still dealing with the repurcussions.
Fact:posts here on the Fediverse are like little snowballs at the top of an avalanche-prone hill. Some of them only roll a few feet and do nothing. Others run 5-10 feet and get bigger. And then there are the ones that keep on gathering snow for hundreds of feet and eventually trigger an avalanche (in Fediverse terms, usually takes a week). π€
I've been hunting for this specific typeface/font for ages, but can never find it. It was used for cinema light box/marquees in the UK in the 1960s-1980s. It's close to some of the usual suspects (Gill Sans, Human521, Futura, DIN, Century, etc ), but no cigar. Any ideas?
Wondering whether anyone in my #gischat#eochat#geospatial network knows of any good tutorials for downloading and processing #Overture data using Python?
Also, I'm looking at xcube as a way of generating data cubes using STAC - is this a sensible approach?

if someone is interested in contributing to #FreeBSD but do not have ideas, here is one: "fix API compatibility between our libusb and linux's one without breaking ABI", don't hesitate to ask me for more detail
All right friends, I've been feeling really inspired this week and wanted to do something creative. I like #sketchnoting to channel my creativity and mix it with something useful.
Since people often ask me how I create #sketchnotes, I thought I might create a free email course.
What do you think? -> Like + share, if you want me to do it π π

I've always wanted to try to get axis text directly on my plots like I've seen in the New York Times and other places. Finally figured it out with the help of the {ggh4x} package. Code here: https://rfor.us/axistext#rstats
Do you get frustrated by other people's abstractions of geography? Do you have strong preferences about hex cartogram layouts of UK constituencies for the next election? Do you have a better feel than me for parts of the UK outside Yorkshire? If so, please help improve our open source layout of future UK constituencies.
I'm sure there will be people from Scotland outraged at this. There must be people in the SE of England who don't like what I've done around the bottom of London? Please help improve it.
