last night I dreamt I was given an item called "comfort cow" which was actually a real, brown, pretty cow that loved to be cuddled and smooched. You could bring comfort cow in the house and she'd be perfectly behaved.
There were plenty of photographs from the April 8 eclipse, but I really like this composite photograph which shows 10 images during the entire eclipse with Katahdin as the foreground. For my friends from Cymru, Katahdin is Maine’s highest peak like your Yr Wyddfa it holds a special place in our hearts. It was never re-named and retains the original native name meaning great Mountain. #maine#Katahdin#YrWyddfa#Wales
Apologies to all proper Welsh speakers for my shitty Welsh posts today but I thought it'd be good fun and practice, given that it was Ddyd Gwyl Dewi Sant, to post in nothing but Welsh for a day :D :baner:
Car free vacations can be a challenge, for example visiting Castell Coch. The bus to Tongwynlais from Cardiff only gets you so close. So… after crossing 3 tricky round-abouts the trail begins gently. With no blaze or arrow to guide you where to turn as it starts up rather steeply. Look for stone steps that may be a retaining wall. I have certainly seen better maintained trails, but in the end it was a nice hike with a view suitable for an attacking army.
Collecting Kelp on the Maine Coast. Lobster fisherman Steve Train and his daughter (my friend) Hattie are farming kelp in the off season. Seaweed is a fast-growing and versatile protein source. Growing the stuff is remarkably straightforward: Farmers cast seedlings out on ropes and submerge them until they’re ready to harvest a few months later. The market, which stood at $15 billion two years ago, is projected to hit $24.92 billion in 2028. #sustainable#kelp#maine
Every year, hundreds of Georgians gather on Orthodox Easter in April for a sporting match that makes rugby seem tame.
Called Lelo Burti, this notoriously brutal game originated three centuries ago.
Watching this muddy and bloody sport gives an insight into how this Caucasian nation with a population of just 3.7 million carved out a place for itself at rugby’s top table in this year’s World Cup, alongside Rugby heavyweights.
