I have a number of classes (call them C1, C2, etc) that all derive from the same class B. I have a superclass (template, actually) D that derives from C1, C2 etc. To have a single B, the standard solution is to go with virtual inheritance to close the diamond (so far, so good).
@oblomov most of the newer languages (eg. #RustLang or #GoLang) don’t support inheritance between classes/structs. They only support implementation of traits, which only define interface and not implementation. In general, using inheritance for implementation reuse is brittle and I like to avoid it.

Un prisma “gated” è “bloccato” nel senso che non lascia passare la luce, ma non ho idea di quale sia il termine tecnico corretto in italiano. Un aiutino è ben gradito.
OK, #Italian#NodeCore#translation are now at 99% completion. The only thing missing for 100% are three strings pertaining “gated prisms”. Gating here is to be intended in the circuit logic sense (a gated prism is one that doesn't let light through). I'd rather use the proper Italian term here but I have no idea what it is. Update on the #NodeCore#translation situation. I've decided to take the plunge and get “creative” for Italian, fishing from ancient Greek for the names I was having troubles with. One of the problem is that some of the names actually exist in Italian, although with slightly different meanings.
Here's the situation as of now, with comments. The translations are still open for debate, so if anyone has comments or suggestions, I'm open.
I haven't solved yet the pumice/pumwater pun, but if we go with the “rock juice” idea, maybe it could be something like «igrolite». Or maybe I could lean towards oil-based words, since it doesn't mix with water («elaiolite»? horrible).
Or maybe I could make the pun on the other end, exploiting the fact that the «pom» in «pomice» could be also the one in «pomo» (apple).
Apparently lava in ancient Greek is
ῥύαξ, which essentially means torrent, but it's especially a “torrent of fire” (i.e. lava). In fact, there Rhyacian period exists https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhyacian

So we can get rhyace/pomice (accents on the y and on the o) which makes a good alternation, although not as nice as pum-water/pum-ice.
One of the things I love about #NodeCore is that, despite being conceptually in the #Infiniminer / #Minecraft genre, it has a very original and quirky take on it. This also reflects on a number of details down to the level of semantics —and that's where my love turns into hate when I want to translate it.
Despite the despicable mangling that #Mastodon does of non-Note #ActivityPub objects, I'm getting more and more annoyed when opening a link “in-app” (e.g. by dragging it to the search field) doesn't work, because it's not a link to an AP service.
Please tell me that when artists talk about «quick doodle» they're referring to 6 hours of hard work because I refuse to believe such beautiful stuff can come out from an actually quick doodle.
