Per the latest Roderick on the Line, some collaborative memories.
Dog School was a very bad ska band with a rotating lineup that included me, @grantimatter, Christian/X-ian/Lando, and Aaron from Big Nerd Ranch.
Last photo is from the Church of the SubGenius event Lando had organized at New College. At which event Rev. Ivan Stang married everyone in attendance to one other for 24 hours.
Praise "Bob" ! Like malaria, like a cursed mummy, like your favorite song, The Church of the SubGenius lumbers ever forward. Thanks for preserving and sharing this piece of history!
@SrRochardBunson@odessa unfortunately the character limit at https://dobbs.town (like all mastodon instances) cannot be increased. I would also prefer this option. Other software does offer this option and maybe, some day, I will switch. But maybe no.
I saw Sun Ra many times at that club. They did a song where they'd walk among the crowd. The musician with the cowbell saw my tape deck on the table, looked at me, put his cowbell right over the tape deck and whaled on it for a while.
Was that a little solo just for me, or a musical scolding for my pirate recording? I'll never know.
“God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of His own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players [i.e. everybody], to being involved in an obscure and complex variant of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.”
