It seems that a few people in including me, just felt a tremor, possibly an earthquake?

perkinsy,
@perkinsy@aus.social avatar

@urbaer seemed to me a lot milder than the earthquake we had during the pandemic. I can't remember how strong that was

perkinsy,
@perkinsy@aus.social avatar

@autiomaa @urbaer we have had a few shakes over the years - pretty mild but you do notice them. Nothing like as bad as in New Zealand

Tina Turner's legacy is not just a musical one, as significant as that is, she also spoke out about domestic violence in a time when that was not spoken about. It is important to remember just how hard it is for her and other survivors to talk about the abuse they suffered.

I used to teach a workshop at almost every I attended, and I kind of miss it. It was short (45m), fun, and people seemed to get a lot out of it. Would there be any interest if I ran one online again?

perkinsy,

@benwbrum I would appreciate it but I am on the east coast of Australia so don't know how the time would work for you.

Much as I love the food of France and Italy, I loathe their habit of closing restaurants for the afternoon. The number of times I've rushed to have lunch somewhere and just missed the 2pm or 2.30pm closing!

@timrichards same kept happening to me with Melbourne cafes. My natural lunch hour is 2pm but I had to change it as I continually faced the 'kitchen is closed, would you like a muffin' lunch offer.

The we planted on 10th April is going really well. People have taken some of the pot plants we left for people to take home. The nasturtium seeds I planted last spring had not sprouted by April so I gave up on them. To my surprise they have since sprouted.

Today I did some weeding, rubbish removal and moved some of the nasturtium plants to better places.

Australian drop bears are not fiction. They lived alongside flesh-eating kangaroos, tree-climbing crocodiles, lions, and giant-toothed platypuses.

Two thirds of Australia's population lives in temperate weather zones so experience winter. Research indicates that 4 out of 5 homes in temperate Australia fail to meet the World Health Organisation's requirements that indoor temperatures during the day are at least 18 degrees:

Approximately 1.3 million homes in Victoria rate a poor 2 out of 7 stars due to thermal 'insufficiency' - they leak warmth during winter. A Victorian program retrofits homes thereby addressing the link between cold homes and poor health:

Funny the data issues you can have on Google Maps. It's insistent there's no transfer between the pink and yellow lines on the Lyon Metro, when of course there is. You need to have your wits about you and reject the Google Maps advice sometimes.

@timrichards Google maps is often wrong or inefficient for walking. I found in Singapore that knowing the direction of my target destination and following my nose saved me time and made for a much more interesting walk

Making some salad for brunch. Yup these salad leaves are from my .
When I lived in Australia, I saw how Aussies had vege patches and fruit trees in their gardens. When I returned to Malaysia, I was swept up by the dreams of having my own urban farm. The dream grew urgent during the pandemic.

I learned by helping out at a community garden. Many killed plants later, here I am with a balcony filled with veges that produce for my own consumption.

perkinsy,
@perkinsy@aus.social avatar

@liztai Good on you! Plant the ends of spring onions and new shoots will appear so you can add some home grown spring onions to the mix.
