Does anyone here have a good resource ( preferably also a fine-grained flowchart :P ) on which software license to choose if you want to publish some lines of code? 🙂

Including laymans' explanations of the basic differences, but also consequences and example use cases and arguments for choosing a certain license would be a big plus!

@erikkemp If it's really only about “some” (as in “few”) lines of code, they may not be copyright-protected in the first place, i.e. choosing a licence might not have any legal implications at all.

Eine Studie stellt fest, dass Personen, die den Wahrheitsgehalt von Meldungen mithilfe von Suchmaschinen überprüfen, falsche Informationen häufiger für wahr halten als solche, die keine Online-Recherche durchführen. Eine Erklärung lautet, dass Suchmaschinen nur wenige glaubwürdige Informationen liefern & Fake News an der Spitze der Ergebnisse stehen.

If you use an and have noticed that some websites don't work correctly, here's a suggestion that may help:

Disable the DuckDuckGo blocklist compiled by , as it contains many false positives, i.e. domains wrongly classified as serving ads or trackers.

The reason I had been unable to determine the root cause for a long time was that Firefox only said “connection refused”, due to @tblock modifying the Hosts file.

So, here's a problem I have with Mastodon: let's say I make a post and someone replies with a racist, sexist, homophobic or transphobic comment. I can block the commenter, but that only hides it for me. Other people who come to my page will see the comment, and believe that I tacitly condone that behaviour. I'd like to be able to delete the reply from my replies list entirely. Or at least hide replies from blocked accounts. And, yes, I know that wouldn't delete it from the originating server.

@evan While deleting racist replies is a valid incentive, I don't think that OP should be the one to do it. We already have server moderators precisely for cases like these.

In fact, the mere existence of censorship tools available to OP will inevitably lead to bad people posting bad (but not rule-violating) stuff, without anyone being able to correct them. Think of people sharing BILD content and posting populist statements to influence public opinion – no one could call out their nonsense.

@c_staebe @kuketzblog Signal registriert sich trotzdem bei Google Push. Die Benachrichtigungseinstellungen des Systems bewirken nur, dass Signal auf deinem Gerät Popups anzeigen und einen Ton dabei abspielen darf (bzw. nicht darf).

Eine andere Sache wäre es, wenn du ein googlefreies Android mit @microg verwendest und in den MicroG-Einstellungen die Google-Push-Registrierung für Signal völlig unterbindest. Die Google-Play-Dienste auf Stock Android haben so eine Möglichkeit aber natürlich nicht.

@bricks Die Einstellung, was in dem Benachrichtigungspopup auf deinem Gerät angezeigt wird, ist rein kosmetischer Natur und beeinflusst nicht, welche Daten tatsächlich in der Google-Push-Nachricht verschickt werden (das kann man als Nutzer gar nicht einstellen).

Signal und Threema wenden beide die Praxis an, die Google-Push-Nachricht leer zu lassen und den eigentlichen Inhalt erst danach vom Signal- bzw. Threema-Server abzufragen.

Man kann mit den iPhone Kurzbefehlen auch API Requests schicken und dann (relativ frickelig) Daten aus dem JSON auslesen. Damit lässt sich ein Befehl erstellen, der mir die aktuelle Statistik von meiner Plattform vorliest. 🤓

Luckily, I've never been in such a situation, but I think I'd just ask some questions like “When was the last time non-white people enslaved whites due to skin colour?” Not sure how effective that would be in practice, though.

Kann Threema für eine Google/Apple-Push-ID eine Verknüpfung zu einem Threema-Konto herstellen? Wenn nicht, wie wird dies technisch verhindert oder umgesetzt?

Und eine weitere wichtige Frage ist: Wie oft hat Threema bereits Push-IDs an Behörden vergeben? Wenn ja, um welche Informationen handelt es sich dabei genau?

Bitte nicht auf Threema Libre oder Threema Push verweisen, da besteht das Problem nicht. Das ist bekannt.

@kuketzblog @threemaapp Im Security-Whitepaper steht, dass Firebase-Push-Nachrichten leer sind und der Client den eigentlichen Inhalt erst danach vom Threema-Server abfragt. Unter iOS wird der Benachrichtigungsinhalt symmetrisch verschlüsselt.

    Threads federating with the Fediverse is a major leap towards decentralisation of social media, and not joining this movement would have been a tremendously close-minded decision for Pixelfed, especially considering that federation won't affect the privacy of those who don't interact with Threads users.
