@Natanox @ne20002 @kuketzblog Auf dem Fairphone 3 ließ sich der Bootloader leicht öffnen und wieder schließen, siehe Anleitung: https://doc.e.foundation/devices/FP3/install

Damals (2019) musste ich nach dem Flashen noch „fastboot flashing lock“ ausführen, weiß nicht, ob das jetzt immer noch so ist. In den Entwicklereinstellungen von /e/ OS ist jedenfalls eine entsprechende Funktion verfügbar.

@Scorpion8741 @Natanox @ne20002 Graphene OS mag das sicherste Android sein, aber aufgrund der Geräteauswahl finanziert man unmittelbar Google, was m.M.n. aus ethischen Gesichtspunkten nicht zu rechtfertigen ist, und außerdem treiben dort die proprietären Google-Play-Dienste ihr Unwesen. Nicht die beste Empfehlung, wenn man kein Google-Fan ist.

@Scorpion8741 @Natanox @ne20002 Smartphones von Google zu kaufen, ist für mich nicht besser oder schlechter als sich von Amazon Produkte liefern zu lassen. Klar fällt ein einziger Einkauf hinsichtlich Googles Geschäftspraktiken oder der Arbeitsbedingungen von Amazon-Lieferfahrern nicht ins Gewicht, aber es geht ja ums Prinzip, und in der Masse hat es durchaus Wirkung.

We must not allow surveillance-capitalist data farmers to further spread the lie that two-factor authentication requires a phone number. IT DOES NOT, for God's sake!

2FA can be implemented via TOTP app codes, physical U2F / FIDO2 security keys, biometrics (passkeys), second-device verification and probably via many more methods that don't require a SIM card and mobile phone.

are currently asking for donations to keep enabling censorship circumvention, empowering political organizing, curbing surveillance, facilitating research and journalism as well as protecting whistleblowers.

Some have already complained that PayPal donations don't work via Tor. However, since you're logging in to your PayPal account which is already tied to your real name, there would be no benefit of using Tor in this case anyway.

@ummjackson @Bernard Did you use Cloudflare Tunnel? I'm considering to use it as well, but I'm not sure what that would require. If I understood it correctly, you have to use Cloudflare's name servers, but you don't have to actually transfer your domain to Cloudlare, right?

@Scorpion8741 @kuketzblog Einiges davon ist zwar richtig (Hinterherhinken mit Updates), aber manches ist auch einfach falsch (Signatur-Spoofing), übertrieben (AppLounge, Opt-in-Statistiken, NTP, DRM 🙄) oder an den falschen Adressaten gerichtet (MicroG, Nextcloud).

Völlig rätselhaft finde ich, was es an der Tor-Integration zu kritisieren gibt oder wieso man sich darüber echauffiert, dass alten Geräten neues Leben eingehaucht wird. Habe lieber unsichere Nachhaltigkeit als sicheren Elektroschrott.

@Scorpion8741 @kuketzblog Mir selber ist halt Privatsphäre wichtiger als Sicherheit; gibt halt kein anderes Android-OS, das ungerootet IP-Verschleierung über Tor und Tracker-Blockierung gleichzeitig ermöglicht.

Das Problem bei Murena ist m.M.n. eine eklatante Unterbesetzung, wegen der sie mit Updates und Bugbehebungen nicht hinterherkommen.

@frumble Stundenlanger TikTok-Konsum muss nicht per se uninformiert oder unsouverän sein (so was in der Art machen ja investigative Journalisten durchaus), aber es ist wohl war, dass nur die wenigsten TikToker hinterfragend-kritische Reflektion betreiben.

Versuche selbst, mir meinen Mastodon-Konsum durch mindestens ebenso ausführliche Spiegel-, Internationale-Politik- und Jorge-Borges-Lektüre auszugleichen, wenngleich mit durchwachsener Konsequenz.

@Mawoka Smartphone companies can only sustain prices that low by making use of modern de-facto slavery and environmentally unsustainable production. If everyone manufactured their devices like Fairphone do, then Fairphones wouldn't seem that expensive anymore. 🤷
