Just learned about #DecRecs! To make up for yesterday, Day 1 of Dec Recs I'll recommend this Chinese short animated series "All Saints Street" with four seasons. An angel, vampire, mummy, zombie, and werewolf live together. What could go wrong? Really enjoy it for the combination of great art, slice of life, and the supernatural. There's also a comic. It's produced similar to "Hey your cat ears are showing" but more memes and skulls than wholesome uwu.

The Background Music Experiment (1/?)

I've been playing around with having music that always plays in the background out loud. I tend to accidentally sit in silence a lot. I also sometimes use my phone to play audio that isn't music, where I wouldn't mind music continuing to play in the background, or may forget to turn the music back on. Ideally, I want to be able to listen to nature sounds to better foster a connection with nature when I'm indoors. However, other sounds could be fine so long as they're not too distracting. If I'm already using Spotify, where I do have a lot of curated playlists, to listen to something else, like a podcast, there's not really an option to put that on in the background. I think sounds and smells are some underrated ways to curate a space beyond visual things like paintings. Sitting in silence sometimes makes me feel like I'm punishing myself when I don't mean to.

Small Details

A burlap ribbon featuring artwork, letters, tickets, and photographs, from friends and myself
Small folded over note cards with mushroom designs placed around the space as reminders to guests. Next to the pitcher is a reminder to add water when it's low, and a note for a guest mug
A bit messy, but tape on each light switch describing which switch turns on which light. The switches have a weird order so it can be confusing to know which one does what otherwise.

I want to increase my dumbbell weight but the ones at my gym increase in handle radius along with weight and I have very small hands. I can't hold a grip on them properly and they keep sliding out of my hands. I don't know if I should just keep with a lower weight or if I need to try something special to hold bigger ones.

a friend told me about two sweet rituals i thought i'd share w u all:

• every day, go out or open the window where u live, and hang out there for a bit until you hear/see a bird. maybe some days u only hear them, or u end up seeing a squirrel or smth. the idea is that if you bring yourself to be present in a place u think u know well, unexpected things will happen!
• take more things spontaneously and sometimes arbitrarily to be good omens (see a cool cloud = good omen, leaf fell near u = good omen). this is a practice to both resist the tendency to fixate on things being bad omens (tripping, messin up at work over small things) and shift the idea that the environment is working against u, rather for u

The same pot but now there are many more leaves, they are getting longer and wider. The leaves are of varying sizes due to new growth
Now in a plastic yogurt container, the center stem has substantially gained in height has new leaves extend radially. They're perky and tall, nearing a full inch for some.

A1: this weekend Etta (https://ettasandry.com/Work) taught a workshop teaching us how to make drafting patterns in a zine she designed. Essentially we create a bitmap and execute it physically. We cut paper looms and used stamps to dictate our design. Various paper scrap was used to fill in the spaces. Etta was still work shopping this workshop and the zine design so it was lovely to be a part of this process. At the time, I was feeling very computer bad, so it was nice to do something hands on.
