24601: can't speak french™, so i let the funky music do the talking. j'aime : la musique pop, les transports en commun. not so much : réchauffement, haters.

avis femelles, mais sur l'internet le genre a peu importe. ne décroche que pour emma et paloma.

the current news causes 'tik tok' to have rather unfortunate lyrics

The more I try to find the different groups of verbs in French, the more insane I feel lol

There definitely are patterns that can be factorized but ouch

pootriarch,
@pootriarch@eldritch.cafe avatar

@StupidCamille this makes me question how i can conjugate even the five verbs i know. a british friend, educated in france, once asked me how i learned french pronunciation.

  • learned? it's phonetic
  • [glares]
pootriarch,
@pootriarch@eldritch.cafe avatar

@StupidCamille i agree, it's incomprehensible, or let's say resistant to learning. that's the mystery, i don't know how i can get as close as i do without having any idea how. 'phonetic' was what came out when thinking 'well i just know, much of the time'

A spider (a pretty big one for this part of the world), was taking a turn about the room. I asked, "What are you doing?" It stopped, cocked its head, and listened, and once it was assured that it was out of danger, carried on its promenade.

Kindle? Kobo? Apple Books?

What’s the best, or maybe most ethical, ebook platform?

(I rarely reread books, so long-term ownership isn’t a factor for me)

pootriarch,
@pootriarch@eldritch.cafe avatar

@christa @eniatitova
i have a kobo. because they're not amzn. which is slimy. and for better library integration. through overdrive. who are slimy. so there are some books i don't search for on overdrive. some of them i buy in cash. if i was willing to check out the book in overdrive, and i really like it, i'll buy it and switch to reading the print book.

“has taken an astonishing gamble” in calling an early , apparently.

It would be truly astonishing if he needed, and/or was particularly enjoying the job…

Actually, he’s shit at it and, as we recently learned, he’s richer than the King so it’s not like the income matters.

The only possible redeeming factor might be having great, supportive colleagues… and that being so, with ‘friends’ like his, I think it’s astonishing he’s stuck it out this long.

@drandrewv2 in the states, i think in the 70s, there was a novelty song called 'take this job and shove it'. i imagine it being played at no 10

Suite à une vidéo de Konbini, vue avec ma copine ce soir, j'ai décidé de faire la playlist de ma vie (9 chansons qui marquent des étapes de ma vie/des moments importants)
@feudjais

u2 - running to stand still
kylie minogue - better the devil you know
dinah washington - i could write a book
girls aloud - whole lotta history
taylor swift - all too well
natasha st-pier - à l'amour comme à la guerre
martina mcbride - how far
ariana grande - thank u, next
angèle - plus de sens

Do you use subtitles? I'm using them more and more when they are available? It helps me to keep track of what's going on, and I like that I can turn the sound down when if it gets overwhelming.

@autism101 my +1 is neurotypical but absolutely always has the subtitles up on everything that has them @stephaniepixie

@katieonviolin how do you smash people with two forfeited balls, are you some kind of superhero?

pootriarch,

@katieonviolin

Tilt ending the game is brutal

sorry for ignoramusness, but tilt doesn't always lose the game? it normally just forfeits a ball? don't hate me for growing up on joust

pootriarch,
@pootriarch@eldritch.cafe avatar

@katieonviolin and 'short flippers, wide lane' sounds like the only way to win is to tilt it. but not enough that you, you know, tilt

this mess reminds me of when the dead bird was taken over. we're moving! everyone said. to mastodon! then they got here and 80% said, gee, this shit is hard and i can't see everyone i used to and where are quote tweets, and they went back. it's easy for foss/fedi denizens to think ours is the obvious answer for everyone, but it really isn't.

me vs bookwyrm: my instance was unstable, it's probably just one person, so i packed up and cloned myself on another instance. they all seem to be a single demographic group reading sci-fi. i realized that the thing i like about my instance is that i actually discover things on the 'discover' tab. so i moved back. it's down again, but i'm pretty sure it's where i belong
